Do 6 bolts necessarily mean 4G63?

I've done research but haven't found a straightforward answer.

I found a short block that has a six bolt crank, but the flat pistons and the lack of an oil return line give it away as a NA. Is this block 4G63? I know I can use everything (block, crank, big rods) but the pistons in my turbo application and just add oil squiters if it is the 4G63 NA. Does anyone have an idea of how much adding the squiters would cost (including machine shop work)?

Sorry for the nubish question but I need to confirm I am right before I blow $300.

Thanks.

6 bolt obviously referring to number of bolts holding the flywheel to the crank, 6bolt is the 4g63 in the 90-early 92 models, came in turbo and non turbo, the 1.8l (4g37) is a 5 bolt and the 92-99 is a bolt although the 92-94 is a different 7 bolt then the 95-99

Don't forget the G4CS 6 bolt which is a 2.4L. So the answer to your question is a resounding "no."

yep as well as 4g64 aka: 4GCS, G64B, there are several engines that are 6bolts, just depends on the specific years as to whether they are indeed 6-bolts. 4g61 too right?

Thanks for the replies. I guess I'll have to take a good hard look at a 4G63 and compare it. Anything obviuos I will be looking for?

Wiseman to the rescue! The stamp on the block was barely readable, but it did read 4G63. Underneath this i made out: F?0800. I don't know what these last numbers tell me.

For future reference, the vin number on the block can be found on the transmission side of the engine, upper left corner. The eigth digit tells you the engine type.

F - 2.0 turbo 1G/2G
R - 2.0 NT
U - 2.0 turbo 1G
Y - 2.0 NT 2G

Thanks for the help.
