Of course you spend 400+ for the thing and no bolts, well anways, i installed it in june, and today i opened the hood the the front 2 turbo bolts were hanging out, i torques them to specs when i installed it.I used regular bolts from hardware store. Dnp design is stupid, pita to tighten the bolts, and one i had to file down just to make it fit:mad: , i tightened it and well see if it happens again, am i using the wrong bolts?they said use any kind.

thanks

The previous owner of my dnp manifold had the same problem. My guess is that the heat stretches the bolts and makes it easy for them to come out. (happened with my stock bolts). So I guess he just welded the bolts in there to make them studs and I have to use the nuts to hold it on. The back one looks like its gonna be hard to get at so I might need a crows foot or something :(

Use two second gen turbo bolt washers on each bolt. Place them on the bolt so the flat sides of the washer make contact and the cupped sides are on the top and bottom.

I used to have a problem with turbo bolts backing out, using the double washer method solved this issue.

This procedure is outlined in the turbo swap VFAQ.

I forget if DNP is using stainless flanges or not, but that would be the culprit if they are due to the heat expansion of the stainless. Surprising they aren't just snapping.

If you are getting really mad over this problem, you shoudl just get out of dsms as you will have to deal with much worse when upgrading. You shoudl have got a bolt the right length or used washers so the bolts aren't too long. Also, I would use lock nuts on the bolts as well. Putting a stud or two in would make it easier to line up the turbo when doing a swap as well so the gasket is centered.

ok your first sentence makes no sense., deal with much worse when i upgrade to what? did you look at my profile, you coulda kept that commnet to yourself, i am in no way "really mad". i did get the bolt the right length.

Why not use OEM 02 housing bolts, and nuts? They are made just like the stock turbo bolts, yet smaller. I believe they will work perfect for your application with the use of the locking washers as well.
