Well I raced my car last weekend and pulled a [email protected] with a 1.855 60'.
The only mods I have are K&N, hacked aircan, free mods, 3" cat and catback.

My question is, what will it take to dip into the 12's? I am saving for an act 2600 right now, so thats on the list. I also want to keep the stock sidemount, injectors, and downpipe for now. The reason for the downpipe is that my car is very loud as it is, and im sure a larger downpipe won't help that problem.

I'd probably save up and buy dsmlink just cause that helps troubleshoot so much before you start breaking everything.
or go for a walbro 255hp and fuel pressure regulator.

or go for a fmic with a greddy type-s, or a tial with a maf-t blow thru setup.

Theres so many different ways to go.

BTW if I'm correct, shouldnt you be hitting at least a 13.4 and at least 1.7 60's ?

When you say free mods, do you mean you have a MBC too?
 
By the way, I took it easy on the launch because I need a new clutch soon. For the launch, I slipped the clutch at about 3500. I shifted out of first at 6900, out of second at 6800, and out of 3rd at about 5500 because the boost was creeping up to 19 psi before i shifted. Yet I dont know why I am getting boost creep, im almost stock?

and this site are very good sources for you, a beginner. A boost controller is not always the answer, but yes you need one EVENTUALLY. My mothers car, which I just rebuilt the engine in runs very strong at 9-10 PSI, with no boost controller, and the vac line straight from the turbo outlet to the wastegate (lowest possible boost). It barely lost to my friends V8 Dodge Hemi truck on the interstate, not bad for stock AWD car.

Any case. Most people who figure out how their car works will run 12's. Remember, you will go faster cheaper if you know what your doing. I have made most of the mistakes before my car started running right. At one point in time I had a 16G, 660cc's, spearco FMIC, GM blow thru, 3 inch turboback, ported everything, etc. etc. etc. Car ran 13.3's(at best) STILL. I saw people with similar setups running 12's all day. Whats wrong? I spent more money than I had brains. I hunkered down, spent time learning the car, took it to the track and immediately ran high 12's on pump. Later on I was running mid 12's on pump gas in 90 degree heat.

One of the things I try to push on new people is to spend money on the right mods FIRST. If you go buy a $500 tubular manifold first thing, you will not see that large a gain, I am STILL using a 1G manifold. The first things you want to do is upgrade your intake/exhaust as CHEAP as possible. Meaning, a 3" stainless steel turboback exhaust that cost $800 will not beat my aluminized steel 3" turboback welded at the local shop for $300-$400. I acutally just built my mother a 2.5" turboback for under $150. The VFAQ site and other one will tune you into the cheapest way to do some things. If I had to comprise a list of components needed to run a 12 sec car SAFELY, it would be:

BOOST GUAGE
Eliminate emissions
Port the 14B
Port the Exh man. (If a cheap 2G is available, it would help)
Port O2 Housing (2G if possible)
2.5" or 3" exhaust (3" only if you intend on using a large turbo one day)
Manual boost controller
Logger (PDA, TMO....DSMlink is AWESOME! but expensive.)
Tuning (either an AFC or MAF Trans.)
upgraded airflow sensor ( I prefer 2G even though I have a MAF Trans right now.)
Upgraded sidemount, with IC pipes or a FMIC kit(if you intend on dropping a wad of cash, here it is).
POSSIBLY a fuel pump, regulator, maybe injectors. A logger can determine this.

A few notes:

- The first few items are "free mods"

- I like a 2G MAS becuase the MAF Trans acts really wierd at idle and the airflow signal in a pull isnt as clear. 2G Mafs can run you damn near 11's before you have to hack it. You will need some sort of logging/tuning setup.

- A FMIC is NOT required to run a 12, but I feel a upgraded stocker helps (Dejon Tool), and hard IC pipes help.

- DO NOT ditch the stock BOV unless you plan on running serious boost levels. You can crush a stock one and run up to like 18PSI? I hate Greddy BOV's by the way, and have gone through a Type-S and a Type-RS. Hate them both, got a Tial.

Theres a guy who bought a stock car and fabricated most his mods hisself. Ran 12's with $700 in mods. That guy knows a thing or two.
 
well i really dont think i need a mbc yet because the car is already running 14-15 psi, and thats as high as i want to go for now.

I think my next mods will be a fuel pump and either a ported 2g manifold or an evo 3 manifold because mine is starting to crack and the gasket is crapping out. Along with a better o2 housing, I hope that should put me in the 12s
