dimmer question

I am putting in some new gauges and have to spider them in to the dimmer switch. The problem is the switch has three wires a black, a black & yellow, and a green. I need to know which is the power wire. thanks for any help.

take a volt meter or make one outta an auto lightbulb....touch the part on hte light to the wire nad if it lights up a lil bit its the power ...
