Ok so when screwing around with my radio I blew my dimmer switch and lost my gauge lights and heater and ac lights. So isntead of paying the $80 for a new switch can i bypass the switch so i can get my dash lights back. I know it wont be adjustable but who cares if it is up all the way. I read one kid bypassed his dimmer switch by putting the two wires from the back of the dimmer together (pos & neg) and grounding the other wire. Will this work? There is no radio in my car right now i have tried three of them so I am assuming it will not work until this is fixed.
Whaddya think?
Jim

did you check the fuse? :)

there is a fuse on that circuit that would have blew, before shorting out the switch.
anyway, if the switch is bad, yes you can just tie the wires together.

Ok so I tried tying the two wires together but not sure if i did the correct ones. There are three: green, solid black, and black with yellow/orange stripe. Which two should i tie together and should i ground the third? First time i tried i tied the green and solid black one and left the other one(covered). When i turned on my lights the fuse under the hood popped, but didnt when i detached them. So i will try the green and striped one later today when i get off work. Let me know what you think man, and i appreciate the help.
Thanks,
Jim

Oh yeah one other problem you might be able to help me with. When i hook up the radio (stock or aftermarket) my remote lock doesnt work. Probably cuz of dimmer?

I need a radio i cant take this anymore!!!! OMG :barf:   :dsm:

Just completed this clean up on my 1G.

Dimmer bypass = Connect Black to Black/Yellow
Hazard bypass = Connect Green to Green/Orange
Pop Up Headlight Bypass = Connect Blue/White to Blue/Black

All three switches can be removed and the remaining wires need to be capped or taped.
