dimmer and flog light switch problem

Ok my dimmer switch is not working it does not dim my gauges but when i turn my driving lights on the guages light up also the light bulb is not working inside the dimmer.
My fog light i cant remember if it works or not i have my fog lights out right now but the bulb inside of it does not light up either? what is the cause of this and how do i fix it.

Wanting to hook my boost gauge up to dimmer to dim it but wont work if dimmer is not working.

im talking about the bulbs inside the switch and dimmer and i have took them apart and they are not burnt out the dimmer was pretty nasty with corrosion but i cleaned it and still nothing worked.

Check for +12V on dimmer's green-white wire when tail lights are on and that you have continuity (0 ohms) on the black wire to ground. Gauge lights should not come on with dimmer disconnected (or someone shorted the black-yellow to ground to bypass dimmer).

Yeah your dimmer switch is simply a potentiometer (variable resistor) that supplies a smaller amount of voltage to the bulbs as you turn it clockwise. It sounds like that dimmer switch is passing current through it, but is stuck at the "fully on" position.

You could start by swapping the dimmer with one from the Junkyard. Definately check your fuses for the Fog Light issue, good luck.
