First off, I'm not asking what HID kit to get, as I already know OEM is the way to go.

But, I have a 95 Talon which I bought a 97 GSX bumper for. I am swapping the logos, so I don't have a Talipse, but an Eclipse 2gb front end w/Eagle logo on the front. Anyway, I need the housings of the 2gb lights, but don't want to spend $240. I work for a tuning/repair shop, and even at wholesale, they are $115 a piece.

So, I searched on ebay, and I keep finding those retarded Chinese HID kits, but they are cheap.. Like, $99. I know though that those kits are ridiculous, and very illegal (I live in Mexi central) and there are plenty ricers running around with those things at night, so I don't want that. But, I am wondering if I stick something like silverstars inside of them, will they be dim enough to alright? Or do I have to modify them to make them antiglare?

Also, does anyone have a 2gb Eclipse front with Eagle logo? I want to see another.

i wouldnt mess with the ebay lights., you pay for what you get esp with lighing. I would get the oem housings and just run a good set of silver stars in them.. Just my 2 cent. :)

i have a 1g laser w 6000k 35w lows, 6000k 55w high beams, and 6000k projector fogs, my headlights have a 2 inch eyelid so the have a decent cutoff line and dont blind anyone, i pass inspection fine and i paid $150 total, so thats $5o per kit, pretty darn good and i have the brightest headlights on planet earth.

So, can I put a lip INSIDE the lens, like a lip over half of the projector? I am fine with just the stock lights in mine, but I can't find ANYTHING cheaper, and am very limited for the moment on cash. I just want my car to have headlights and not cause any crashes.

if you dont mind ghettoness, make a cutoff lip out of electrical tape or just paint one on, then just get some $50 vvme.com hids, they are flawless for the most part.

1 month ago i did a retro fit with crappy results. Morimoto mini 5.0 projectors/extreme lighting acces ballast/10dollar ebay xenon bulbs.

I blamed it on the bulbs.
The order from the projectors gave me some free Morimoto 3Five 4.3k bulbs for shipping out the shouds late.

Got everything installed last night, Bright... But driving around other cars my lights arent as bright even tho their cars are halogen bulbs.

And my h1 bulbs seem to be getting dimmer over one night. Same happened when i got the Ebay xenon bulbs.

The Projectors i used (Morimoto 5.0) are great with a nice cut off (followed the how to thread here on tuners)

My problem is not related towards reflecting the light. My problem is My hid bulb output is weak. Gradually getting dimmer.

Im guessing the ballast supplying voltage to the bulbs are bad?

Edit: What watt ballast/bulb do you run? i thought 35 should of been enough

I just didnt see the point in starting a new thread. it seemed to be a better choice to post my question on this existing thread in case someone had a similar issue he/she would find the info here rather than be jumping from thread to thread.

and battery voltage all stays the same.
I Took a drive out tonight and just got back.
Driving with the hid's on it seemed to stay at a good bright level.

I guess this whole issue wasn't the Hid's bulbs dimming. (just the lights seeming dim around other vehicles), but in near darkness they seemed bright. It was just me having higher expectations from the Hid kit output after doing the retro.

Still better than factory but i was expecting to be abit brighter.
Ill be in the market for a 55w hid kit i guess.

the 4.3K or 5K bulbs offer the best light output.
How clear are your housings? (any cloud will drop your light output a lot.)
I am looking to ship out a set of new oem housings to have retrofitted in the next week. I will be using the 5Five ballasts and 5K bulbs, but I don't expect to have them installed before the end of may.

Well my passenger light is brighter since my driver siide headlight is hazed, But not by much. Ill give it a cleaning tomorrow. I am satisfied with the retro tho..

I just wanted a bit more than what the 35w offers.

If you really want to save yourself some bucks its a real easy retro fit to do yourself with the bixenon 5.0

Its crazy easy, Plug and Play. You can find them at theretrofitsource.com but on ebay the same vender has them and you can make a best offer.

At their site its 120, but i got them for 80 with a best offer.
He shipped the shouds separate and got delayed so i asked him for some H1 Morimoto 3five bulbs for the inconvenience and he gladly sent them out for free.(Costs 40 on their site)

Better than the 10 dollar ones i got on ebay. Way brighter, And those actually dimmed within 2 days. You definatly get what you pay for.

Wow, just what people need, more HIDs on the road in open housings:banghead: I have a cop friend that writes you guys tickets every chance he gets, I thank him daily because I'm a 3rd shifter and do most of my driving at night. Most of you guys that buy the cheap HIDs usually have one go out within in a week, I don't know how many cars I see nightly running one bright ass off angled HID, I just laugh to myself.

And before you guys go on a rant, yes I understand very few cars come with HIDs from the factory in open housings.. they are designed for it.

Why are you even talking. Dont you understand that the Hids i am running are paired with Projectors Meaning it has a low Sharp cut off beam and no scattered light.

Go find something better to do besides talking without knowing.

Your asking us not to rant????

We are all running true "HID Projectors" meaning "just like the ones that come from the factory".

Try the 55 watt ballasts and make sure the current output is AC.

I too did the Morimoto mini mod a couple years ago with 35 watt ballast and felt the same. I switched to 55 watts and never looked back.

55W is not recommend with the Mini projectors.
Are you using D2S or H1 minis?
If H1 I'd get some Morimoto bulbs from TRS. If D2S I'd get some Phillips or Osram bulbs from TRS.

All HID bulbs are not made equal and the eBay ones are crap.

I'm running an OEM ballast in my retro and that's what I would recommend. However they do cost more. Morimoto ballasts are pretty good in comparison.

LOL because I was just talking to just YOU, ok;)

Yes, because you are "all" running proper projectors:rolleyes:

Every person that posted in this thread is running proper projectors. Now unless your going to contribute to the thread, would you mind starting your own thread regarding the reasons why not to place HID bulbs in the oem housings. Unless your trolling, in that case..........

Thanks, Might give it a shot even its not recommended :sneaky:

Yeah, Morimoto H1 5.0 Mini Projector with Morimoto H1 3Five Bulbs. Ill see tonight what a little adjusting will do along with some cleaning.

Honest, as easy as the Minis are to retrofit, the performance is sub par compared to the OEM Replica projectors (FX-R, Evo-X R, etc) and OEM ones.

As someone who's had 3 retros on his DSM alone and done many other retros, I'd spend the extra time and effort to use the Replica or OEM projectors.

BlurredTalon, I appreciate your expertise in this matter.

Honestly though for the average guy, just do the mini retorfit following my guide. It's easy, it will only take a few hours and he'll have proper lighting.

OP, don't stuff anything in your stock housing but factory type 9006 bulbs unless your retrofit.
