Well guys. Ive got a 96 eagle talon tsi awd 7 bolt. And im rebuilding the engine at the moment and still looking for a crank. Ive read some things online that there are 2 different 7 bolt cranks. 95-96 had thrust bearings like mine has now. And i think it was 97-99 with thrust washers. I dont beleive the cranks from a 97-99 would be interchangable with my 96 but i could be wrong. Can anybody shine some light on this for me.

The cranks will interchange... I think there are slight variations in counterweight design but technically you can run any 93-99 7 bolt crank or even an EVO8-EVO9 crank in your block w/o issue.....

If you cant find a suitable crankshaft feel free to fire me a PM I'll help you out.

Any 7-bolt crankshaft will fit in any 7-bolt block.

And, 92.5 to 97.5 4G63's used flanged thrust bearings like yours.
97.5 on up 4G63-64's use the split thrust bearing design like the Evo's.

I have a 99 4G64 split thrust bearing block sitting in my garage waiting for parts.

Well i have 2 possible good cranks within driving distance from me. 1 is a whole 95 4g63t and i know is a rebuilt engine and i know it will work but the guy is being kinda flaky. So i found another 1 that is a whole 97 gst spyder with pretty low miles on the engine and very resonable on price but the guy doesnt know if its the thrust bearing or thrust washer crank. So i want to make sure before i go and buy it, that if it is a thrust washer crank ill beable to drop it in to my block and run my flanged thrust bearing on it.

Thanks everybody for the quick replys. Ended up getting the rebuilt 95 gsx engine from the flake. Hope everything is good to go once i pull it apart.

i know this is kind of old, but im in kind of a similar situation. I have a 95 gsx thats blown up, im building another engine on the side to drop in very soon. The block im building is out of a 97 GST. I planned on using the crank out of the old engine and didnt think twice about it, but now after reading a little deeper into it im on edge about things. Question is, Is it REALLY possible? I honestly think it is, but ive read it both ways. Not trying to steal your thread LOL.

A 7 bolt crank is a 7 bolt crank.

The big thing to check is for wear on the thrust surface of the crank
