Difference in clutch's

Hey guy's buying a new clutch soon, wanting a act 2600. My question is, there is about a $50 - $100 difference in 4-puck and 6 puck and something about sprung and unsprung can someone please explain thanks:D
 
Pucks: the more pucks the less harsh the engagement. However, the less number of pucks (on a non-circular single disc clutch) the more grip. 4 puck clutches grab harder. 4 puck clutch will have more pressure pre square inch = more holding power. Generally 4 puck= race, 6 puck = street

Sprung Vs. Unsprung: A sprung clutch allows it to act similarly to springs on a car. In this fashion, the clutch is engaged, slack is taken out of the springs, and then the clutch is fully engaged. The actual amount of travel of these springs in only a few millimeters. The theory is that the springs will dampen the engagement slightly and to soften driveline shock and reduce associated clutch engagement noise. To generalize, sprung clutches are preferred for street use and unsprung clutches are preferred for racing applications.
 
For a mild street application you either want a 6 puck or full disc and sprung.

For 300+ whp you want a 4 puck. Sprung preferably.

Anyways in the dsm world we usually go by pressure plate ratings as well. A 2600 w/ a sprung six puck should be good for your usage based on what you have in your profile.
 
Check out South Bend's (Exedy) full face Kevlar disks. Will hold more torque than an organic disk, it's sprung, and engagement is still smooth. Believe SBC couples it with a slightly clampier (Making up words is fun!) pressure plate, similar to the 2100, in their Stage 2 "TZ" package, and it is claimed to hold 375 pounds of torque at the flywheel. Plus they're great guys to deal with directly.

Improved friction surface > higher clamp load.
 
I am on the market for a new clutch as well and I was thinking of a 2600 sprung 6 puck with a southbend cryo treated PP. Anyone know what the torque rating on the 2600 6 puck sprung disc is.
