what is the differance between pintle and ball fuel injectors. looking to get new 550's and wondering what is better. thanks

Thats really hard to say as everyone seems to have a different opinion on which one works better. Basically the way they inject the fuel is different which gives you different spray patterns & atomizing characteristics. Both have been/are sucessfully used on our cars, so it doesn't really matter which route you go. Stock are Pintle & so are RC, most FIC & PTE are ball/disk.

Pintle types will hold higher pressure better than ball & disk types, not that this will matter for 90% of DSMers. Further more, ball & disk type also requires higher amp. as well as more time to open, reason why they generally have high dead time.

im sorry for "bumping" my thread you wont have that problem from me again. thanks for the information looks like im goin with the pintle style from fic. do you have any other recommendation.

I though FIC and PTE are Delphi ball/disk types unless they recently changed, stock (Denso) and RC are pintle types like Daren posted.
