did my timming belt jump a few teeth???

Ok, so i was driving home (not beating on the car), and i started to hear an odd sounding belt wine. I didnt think much of it at the time so i kept driving. well a minute later i heard a big tick noise and it didnt stop so i immediatly pulled over and shut the car off. I havent been running it at all since. I looked at the T-belt and it was intact, which makes me think that it jumped some teeth.

Anyone know what needs to be done? Could I somehow move the tbelt back a few teeth? what can i dO??

Have you checked to see if the timing marks line up? I personally have never seen one jump timing and belt still be intact.

The only time I got timing belt whine was then my t-belt tensioner froze up. I agree with checking your timing marks.

Check the marks to see if they ALL line up. If they dont then it is usually time for a new or rebuilt head. Sorry.

Realign the belt the way it should be. After that i done make sure that the all the lifters have pressure on them no matter what position the cam is in. If some dont them you have bent valves and a new head is in your future. If not then do a compression test and see what the numbers show. If you have decent numbers run it. If not them pull the head and take a look.

PS. If you are this far into the motor I would replace the Tbelt, tensioner, Water pump, and the like. Just added insurance.
