Did I mess up myself bad by getting 90 degree elbow welded on to my AGP RS49??

I guess I am just stupid. When getting optiions on my RS49 from AGP I checked off the 90 degree elbow facing passenger side.Thought this would make it easier to connect stock intercooler pipe temporarily and thought it could come off fairly easy.WELL THEY WELD IT ON THERE  Now of course the stock intercooler is a joke on the 50 trim so need a front mount and people are telling me I am screwed with that elbow on there. How the heck do you get it off without trashing the turbo or the turbo outlet where you need to connect the fmic? Or does someone sell some kind of turnaround or something so can still be the fmic to work.? I think I should have been warned not to get this thing or they should just use a silcone coupler.I can't believe I paid extra for this thing and now likely screwed because of it.
So whats the deal here guys..anyone else make this mistake and is there an easy solution?

ya it's not a big deal, you're turbo isnt junk now! Just cut it off and reweld it back on the other direction, or go and buy a silicone elbow and sell or throw the one you have now. My intercooler outlets are both on the same side, So my elbow hasto be pointed that way.

Reading and understanding is your friend. Do your research FIRST, then click the "buy" button.

I'm afraid your turbo IS indeed trashed. I'll be the good samaritan here and give you $100 to take that waste of metal off your hands. It's the least I could do to help out a fellow dsm'er in this time of despair. :thumb:

Ps, of course I'm just kidding. It's as easy as what those guys said.

Get a Greddy Front Mount and you are still okay with the elbow. The Greddy routs all the piping to the passenger side.

Just grind it off like said above, but make sure not to get any metal shavings into the compressor housing, or anywhere near the wheels for that matter.

I got the exact same option on my AGP 50 trim. My Dejon FMIC street version uses the passenger side. If the driver's sid, just cut it off. Perhaps emove the housing to be safe not to get fine pieces into the comp wheel. Believe me that will be the least of your problems when you go to mount your BIG FMIC!! Mark

LOL :|

Just get a cutting wheel. Hell, you could use a hacksaw if you are THAT desperate to get it off. Just remember to leave a bead so the coupler has something to grab on to.

Yes, it would be wise to remove the housing from the turbo prior to cutting. Also, clean it out THOROUGHLY.

It's cheaper than getting a Greddy (of all things).

"Welded 2" 90 degree Elbow"
Says this right on the website where you clicked "yes"

The Greddy and Apexi FMIC's need an elbow welded on to fit. Most the US made FMIC's are designed for no elbow. We'll swap you out for a non welded one if you want, we sell them welded every day.

Kevin@AGP Turbo

Also they cut about 1" off of the end of the comp. housing to weld the elbow on. So if you cut the elbow off you 'll be left without that beaded section and your coupler may be slipping off under boost.
