Hi, I'm new to the dsm world so bear with me. I recently installed a greddy type s bov and an injen intake. I'm pretty sure I installed it correctly but added some pics for you guys to look at. I know I have the bov tuned real soft but the boost goes sky hi and I lose power, it's like I don't even have a turbo. I'm recirculating and already went back through and made sure all clamps were tight. Well here are some pics, I appreciate your comments.

Tighten you BOV up, tun it to the harder side. You may be leaking because the pressure for the BOV is too soft. Give that a try and see what happens.

I tightened it up and the boost is still sky high and losing power. It's like it is falling on its face. If I take off kinda hard in 1st gear it be alright till like 3k rpm then just lose all power and boost gauge gets pened at the top. If I try to going in 5th the boost goes sky high and i have to take my foot off the gas and go slow as hell. I'd like to hear any ideas. It's like my boost doesn't kick in. I'm guessing boost leak but want to hear any other ideas or agreements.

Maybe i am not understanding this. You say boost spikes "sky high" what is that ? Do you have a boost guage ? What is it spiking to ? Do you have a MBC ? What type is it? and what is it set to ? What turbo you running. If you are on stock turbo or even aftermarket at that and your boost is going "sky high", i hope you have some money in the bank for a new one soon.

I do not have a mbc or an aftermarket boost gauge. I know the factory boost gauge isn't even close to accurate but when I step on it, the gauge will go to the top. That is why I have my bov tuned so soft. I am running the T25 turbo. Im saving up some money right now for my gauges but want to get this fixed first.

First things first you need an aftermarket boost gauge. Without that you dont truely know if you have a boost spike...or how skyhigh it is. But I would not boost too much without a gauge...

Well if it is falling on its face then that can easily been seen as a boost leak. Well maybe not easily but thats where i would start. When you say the guage is flying all the way to the top that would scare me a little. If i where you i would order a boost guage tonight. You need to know what your turbo is doing and that factory thing you call a guage is worthless.

I would do this.
Order guage tonight
Look up at the VFAQ - Intake/Intake leak tester/ How to build an Intercooler Pipe Pressure Leak Tester
Do the test.

and go from there. Good luck

Alright, sounds good. Thanks a lot, will get a boost gauge asap. And build a boost leak tester. Thanks everyone

Pressure test that mofo. You can build it for like 10 bux from lowes or home depot.

Honestly just installing a bov and intake shouldn't change your boost at all. You HAVE to have a boost leak.

More like HE DOES have a boost leak. I believe 90% of users with that BOV initially have a boost leak due to the weak seal between the BOV and the UICP. I had a major boost leak as well when I had the type S. Go purchase some RTV Silicon from an automotive store and apply it between the bov and uicp. This did the job for me and for many others who had the same situation with the Type S.

Boosh

more like you can't know anything until he puts a boost gauge on it.... there is NO telling what boost its at, "sky high" could be 10psi or it could be 50, 5, whatever its all based on tps and rpms

I know on my 1g when I would have a large boost leak (IC pipes blowing off), the stock boost gauge would read boost at idle, probably cause the airflow is just gushing out and pulling more past the MAF. If 2gs are the same, then maybe thats what he's talkin about when his boost gauge goes up.

Your probably spiking 15 psi and stabling out at 12-13 psi. suggest you get an mbc. Also if your BOV is too soft, after your bov blows off, the car will studder and almost stall. if this happens you need to turn it harder. happened to me more than once. make sure to tighten down that top nut too. ;)
