ok last night i was going down a 50mph street and there was a car in front of me that was going really slow...so i put it in third to pass him and get on it....but right at about 4k it felt like my clutch just gave out or my motor blew..i didnt know what happened but my car popped like when i dump the clutch hard....but i have a new act 2100lb clutch (im fwd by the way) but the funny thing was after it popped, kicked, backfired, whatever it did i put it in neutral and it dropped right back down to 700rpm idle, and then ran just fine like before....was this fuel cut?

my mods are
intake
full 3 inch turbo back
1g Bov
free mods

I have had the same thing happen to me. It doesn't really feel like you are hitting the brakes, it feels like hee said, dumping the clutch hard. I have been told to check my plugs so I will once I get my car back from the shop, its getting an act2600. Also how much boost are you running. If your on a stock fuel system you really shouldn't be boosting past 15psi.

I hope that might help a bit.

i just have the free mods (bcs removed) with a full 3 inch turbo-back,intake and 1g bov
but yeah didnt seem to affect the car but scared the life outta me....and yes it felt like i just dumped the clutch very hard..at first i thought maybe a spring on the clutch had popped out but that only seems to happen on the AWD's with act

I have this same problem, but only when I had not cat on my car. Put a 3"cat on and voila. less horsepower which means less fuel being used which means no fuel cut for me :thumb: Just doesnt feel like I'm floating anymore :notgood:

It looks like you are stock ECU, so you are limited to about 15psi on your boost. And you will still encounter fuel cut when the temperature is lower and the outdoor conditions make the air really dense. This will usually happen at the worst time, when your trying to race some crappy Mustang. The only way to eliminate it completely is to either turn down the boost, or get an EPROM ECU and chip. This mod costed me about $400 for a socketed EProm ECU and $115 for the Keydiver chip. I've got a 90 so it was hard to find an Eprom for mine. If you have a 91-94 or 95-99 it may be easier and cheaper to find.

I never knew the t25 had enough guts in it to make you hit fuel cut. Hell, i ran 18psi with my t25 and never hit fuel cut so i dont know what this guy is talking about that posted above me regarding the ecu only lets u boost 15psi.

I suggest you start doing some maintenance to your car and see if it dissipates the problem. Are you on the stock spark plugs and ignition wires? Check for any boost leaks? How old is your fuel filter? Make sure your MAS plug is nice and tight on the sensor. My old 95awd started to do this when i installed my exhaust and upped the boost to 15psi. One of my ignition wires was a little loose on the coil pack so i tightened it up and put in some new NGK's. I also recommend you change your wires if you have yet to do so.

For one thing my car came stock with a 14b turbo, it does have the guts to make you get fuel cut, and I have heard of 2g cars experiencing fuel cut as well when they turn up the boost. And as far as the 15Psi. I used to run 16 Psi all day but in certain conditions like at night when the air was moist I would get fuel cut, and when I installed a better intake pipe with a GM MAF I couldn't even run 16 psi because it made such a huge difference in air flow. For another thing if you would have looked at my profile you would have seen that I have put many mods on my car and I am far from stock. Yes this guy could have ignition problems like you are talking about. But if he is truly having fuel cut then new wires, plugs, and coil maintenance will do nothing for him.

well i'm really glad this guy made a thread about YOUR car. I could've sworn he was talking about his 2g. 14b's and t25's are in two different worlds when it comes down to pushing airflow. Pay more attention next time.

I am fully aware that t-25's are not as potent as a 14b, but many people have experienced fuel cut with the t-25. It may very well be that he has some ignition problem as you stated. But the point is that he is not quite sure, and the things you suggested would probably be a good idea for any one to check. I'm just saying that its not impossible or uncommon for someone to experience fuel cut on a 2g, and if this is the case he will have to look into an Eprom ECU or be satisfied with lower boost.

well i dont know, my timing is a little off, i dont have a cat and it was pretty cold that night i think i do need to change my plugs n wires though..ill c if that helps..but as far as fuel cut..wont a rewired 190 fuel pump and some 550cc injectors help?

You don't really need all that for the stock turbo, I would do a re-wire and 190. Should give plenty more then the t25 can handle.

Every one of you needs to read up on fuel cut.
Plugs, wires, injectors, fuel pumps, etc. have absolutely NOTHING to do with fuel cut.
If you're truely experiencing fuel cut you have a..... wait for it.....
Boost Leak!
Modding your car will not get rid of fuel cut, it will delay it.
The only way to get rid of fuel cut is to reprogram the ECU.
However, if you don't know what fuel cut is, or why it happens then you're definately not going to want to fool with the ECU.
If you're hitting fuel cut with a 14b, I betcha money you'll hit it with a 13b.
Run a boost leak test. Fix the leaks, and watch the fuel cut go away.

BTW: I'm not trying to be rude to any of you. There's a myth going around here on Tuners that if you upgrade a bunch of crap and spend stupid amounts of money you'll fix fuel cut. When in fact, it's free.....
Just run a boost leak test, and fix the leaks.

Oh yeah, your oil dipstick popping out?

i just asked IF i hit fuel cut i dont know if i hit it or not im just trying to figure out what happened?

I could be completely wrong in your case, but in mine it was just the spark plugs and wires. The feeling that you described feels very much what mine felt like, so I don't think it was a fuel cut.

hence the reason why i told him, thread poster, to check his ignition system. I highly doubt he hit fuel cut.

tie one end of a 300ft steel cable to your rear transfer case, and the other to a brick wall. Fuel cut feels like your at full throttle and then all of the sudden you get 300ft away from the wall.
