kind of along the same line. would anybody be interested in going up to the all mitsubishi cookout as a group? that would be a great event to get together at. the cookout weekend is august 23 and 24th. The weekend consists of a dyno shootout followed by a cruise and all of us meeting at a restaurant on saturday and the big car show and cookout on sunday.
This is all taking place in rogers, mn (a suburb of minneapolis).

MN3S has a block of hotel rooms reserved and rooms will be $74 (could vary) if anyone wants to stay overnight.

Who has this day off of work and who would be willing to do something like this? Anyone want to show up just saturday or just sunday or both?

anybody who wants to see my progess on our new website, check out http://dsta.net63.net and let me know if you notice anything that could be improved upon. the whole site is quite modular so changes are quite simple and quick. Feel free to register. I apologize for you guys having to register a 2nd time on this new site, but it would be very difficult to get the account information to transfer from the freewebs site to the new site. The flip side is that registration is only required once on my site. Once registered and approved, you only need to login once to access the member only portions of the site, the forum, the user profiles, the chat and the private messaging.

issues i already know about:

blog under user profiles--i am waiting for the author of this software to write an updated version of the blog software

live chat--as a built in page it conflicts with some of the menu components and does not work on firefox2 and internet explorer. as a quick fix i made it open an new window. this could be helpful, though because i believe user will appreciate the chance to keep the chat window open while vewing the rest of the site. i will also see if i can tweak the size of the new window so it does not pop up to fullscreen every time.

forums--i am still adding topics into the forums. if you guys have any great ideas for how you want the heirarchy of topics, let me know.

events/calendar--when creating a new event, the calendar system only seems to accept the first sentence from the description of the event unless it is edited in the administration site (which only twotsis and myself have access to) it is possible that none of you may run into this problem, but i am aware of it. if you ever notice that a description of an event is only one sentence long, let me know.


lastly, if anyone has better pictures for the photo gallery or if anyone has pictures from saturday night, let me know.

btw sax, how was the autox? did you trophy again?

If I can get work off I'd like to go to the cookout. I'd probably get a room there and stop by the casinos before heading back. Who else is interested?

i live in ames and wouldnt mind getting together. i just got my laser about a month back and have been looking for ideas on what to do to it, so it would be nice to meet some people and share ideas and what-not. im new to the DSM community but have been fond of them ever since i first saw fast and furious (god i still love that eclipse) and played the NFS underground games, and would love to have a 99 GSX with a 6 bolt swap someday.

Welcome the "laser"! if you are looking to get more involved in dsms, this is the place. we have had 2 meets in des moines so far and are looking to get involved with more events in the future. we are also in transition between our old and new website right now. if you want to check out our current website, go to http://freewebs.com/twotsis and our new site is at http://dsta.net63.net be sure to check out the new site often as i will be keeping it up to date with new events and news.

If you are looking for any mechanical help let us know. I personally have rebuilt 4 DSM engines, 2 transmissions, and have done 3 6-bolt swaps into 2nd generation DSMs.

Also if you are looking for some car events to stretch you laser's legs, we try to stay on top of those too! Some of us drag race pretty frequently at Cedar Falls raceway and a few of us autocross race as well.

Our next event is next weekend August 23rd and 24th. A few of us will be heading up to the All Mitsubishi Cookout in Rogers Minnesota. The 23rd is a dyno shootout/cruise and the 24th is an amazing car show that should feature over 150 mitsubishis this year! We have yet to work out the details for our caravan up there.

sweet, thanks man. the DSTA sites pretty cool, i like the layout and UI. hell, i may be asking you for help soon, my damn motor has a tick that goes off and on and its getting louder bi*** about it is is that i just did a synthetic oil change and dont want to rip apart the engine and get ANOTHER one, stuffs too expensive now a days, especially with my shitty paycheck . which also means i wont be able to go anywhere anytime soon wouldnt mind going to the cookout. how often do people go to the raceway in cedar falls?

me and my friends usually go once every other month or so. the weather lately has screwed that up for us. and the track is only open to 1/8 mile right now, which means a stock dsm barely goes over the speed limit (my buddy's civic hit 95 in the 1/8 mile a few weeks ago, though!)

the next big Cedar Falls Raceway night is the night of September 27th, which is also the same night as Hot Import Nights in Minneapolis. judging by the interests you listed when you introduced yourself, i am sure you will want to see Hot Import Nights in person!

I should also mention that there is a bit of a get-together every Friday night in Ames at the Super WalMart on Duff. Head over there and you can probably catch Heshan in his burgundy 1g, and gs-t SPYDER in his 2g convertible. I will probably hit that a few more times this summer. Its a bummer because Ames is a 1 1/2 hour drive south for me

HAHAHA, thats hella funny, my GF works at the super wal-mart, she gets off around 7 tonight too. thats kinda funny its there, weird i remember seeing the blue 2g eclipse on CL there once. i parked right next to it when i remembered where i saw it from and checked it out, its a really nice car, i love the paint job too. thats what i would want on mine. ive always wanted to go to HIN too. it sucks because when i lived in washington state, whenever they would be in seattle, i would ALWAYS have to work :'( but i did go to a muscle car show with my dad which was TONS of fun, i have a bunch of photos of that, but not on a good camera .
