Hey guys, do you think this Delphi pump is any good? $13.90 seems to good to be true, but I'm thinking about doing it. My pump hasn't quite failed yet, and I would plan to keep it in the car in case this new one fails, but the reason I'm wanting to change the pump is that it has a super long crank if I don't key the ignition on few times before cranking. Pressure bleeds back to the tank over night. So the first start of the day is long. I don't want to spend a lot of money when it's such a small issue. But this would be worth it if it's a good pump. Anyone have a reason not to run it?

Thats what I have on the way, I'll let you know how it works out.

Haha the kid finally broke down!
Hopefully it was a one time thing.

And OP you'd better keep the damn GST or we reserve the right to commandeer it since we've given you all this help. Seriously you won't find another 20 year old car that's so fun and cheap to drive fast. Fill out your damn profile. Your decision has been made.

So I got the $14 pump today and when I opened it I saw that it says Denso right on it. I’ll feel comfortable running this pump. Cant be that bad if Denso has anything to do with it.

I thought you were getting the Delphi You linked in the first post? I got mine today too, but I probably won't be using it as I fixed my electrical short to the pump.

Btw no magnet this time

I did, same box, but it says Denso on the plastic end piece

I did some searches of the number 195130 that's on our pumps. These are definitely Denso pumps that go for around $100. Sweet score if you ask me!

Just to update and complete this thread, I installed the pump and gave a couple days of cold starts to confirm it fixed my cold start - long crank issue. Starts up instantly now! No more pressure drop over night. I'm happy with this affordable pump. I am keeping the old one in the trunk as a precaution for now. But I'm satisfied that it is actually a Denso by part number, even though it was sold as a Delphi, and its going to be fine.

It's crazy how much money online shopping saves you. I don't understand how people still buy stuff at AutoZone or loical retailers. One of my buddies needed a coil replaced on his ford f150 and AZ wanted 60-80 per coil. I got all 8 from amazon for less than 40 shipped. Still running great after a year.

It's pretty easy. Just comes up from the top through the back seat. The passenger side, not the center. The center cover is for the sender. I did have trouble with a line and found it easier to disconnect if from underneath he car. It is a line designed to rotate as the fitting is backed out, but mine would not. The fitting below the tank where it leads worked as it should, so I took it off there.

You need a Philips drive for the cover, 8mm socket for the module bolts, pliers for the clamp on the return line, 14mm line wrench for the feed line, and I used a crescent wrench for the fitting, (same sizes underneath if you have to). I think its a 17 though. You will also need a small hook or flat head to remove a clip for one of the harness connections on top of the module. When you have the module out, use the Philips to remove the bracket holding it in from the bottom. You don't want to wedge it out and back in. You can damage the rubber seal.

Usually we just use tin snips and cut a small slit next to the opening. Peel the edges back, remove/install the line and bend back. The access cover hides the cut. For future reference.
It's funny when you discover all the parts come from the same massive factory. Brand names really don't have any merit anymore.

Hell yes to rock auto, just got GSX calipers on wholesaler closeout for $21.
I also posted in hangout about hawk rotors on amazon 2 front awd for $72, which is crazy considering they're normally $95 each

20 minutes was roughly my idea of what it would look like, double that in the dark.

Mine should already have a Chinese walboro in it, it might even be a real one, but it takes forever to crank over and fuel pressure is very inconsistent.

I expect to find it pretty cut up. I'm not smelling fuel So the seal should be ok.

I can't really drive it right now anyways, the cold temperatures have decided that I need an alternator pivot nut and a tensioner bolt. Seems that lock tite on the bolt isn't enough to keep the belt tight anymore.

I manage an Auto parts store. Not to sugar coat it but we mostly only sell batteries and brake pads. 99% of the general population has no idea what oil they have in their car, so hard parts like this are very slow sellers to begin with. We live in a society that praises excessive spending, people with 4 year old cars come in acting like they NEED to get a new car next year and a new battery is an insane expense to their budget.

Most newer cars I price match rockauto because prices are very similar. Older cars though we can't match a $13 fuel pump LOL
