My Dejon Supersidemount arrived today.
This thing is massive. 9 x 9.5 x 5

I'm going to try and borrow a digital camera tomorrow when I do the install so I can show just how big it is.

For the price, it is expensive. 506 dollars shipped to my door. ADFX sells a sidemount for 300 dollars, though theirs is a little smaller.

If you are looking for a sidemount intercooler upgrade but eventually want to go FMIC, I would not recommend either the Dejon or the ADFX. Go pick up a Supra SM.

But for people like me who are happy not blinging it with a front mount and will have their whp goals met by something like the Dejon supersidemount, you should check it out.

Your vehicle info lists a 52 trim & a FMIC but maybe you were borrowing someone elses name to post, your son? I had the Dejon street FMIC and a 50 trim because i do not want to hack my bumper. i could only tune for 13 PSI. Sold the dejon 2 months later and bought a used Spearco 2-221. It is only 16% larger than the dejon FMIC at 18.5"x6"x3.5" but has 57% more cooling tube area. It is rated to flow 1080CFM @ 1.5PSI drop. My boost went from 13/14 PSI to 18-20 PSI without changing the setting on the MBC. It must flow much more than the dejon street FMIC. The dejon street is good for a 16g but nothing bigger. He does sell a race version that will handle all someone could throw at it.
To be fair to Dave he said the street would be marginal with my 50 trim but I took the chance.
If you are running more than an EVO 16g look for a FMIC.
The Starion FMIC flows 850CFM but probably does not cool that well, not very efficient and not worth the effort.
By replacing the sidemount I was able to run a true cold air intake which will help the Spearco by giving the turbo cooler air to compress. Good Luck, Mark

I have also been thinking of relocating my filter/mas to the stock smic location. Do you have any pics?

i am running 17 psi on a fpbig28 and the dejon super sidemount. works awsome for me. gotta love showing people stock looking turbo with stock looking sidemount

We'll just pretend they are all bar and plate very efficient models for this sake. The first thing that everyone realises, but usually never gets brought up is Location. Look at the ruffly 5x4'' opening to the smic. Not a ton af air moving through there. Although it is designed to move enough air through the cooling fins of a stock unit, when placing a 5'' thick Ic in there, you really aren't getting a ton more cooling. Granted that the design of an upgraded piece is more efficient, but you really don't have enough air moving through the intercooler fins to properly cool the increased intake air charge.
But does a side-mount that measures 9X9.5 have 5x4 of open space to it? I'd be ready to wager you still have more opening than you have flow area.
I have reservations with front-mounts, as I don't like the idea of feeding the radiator pre-heated air. Although it's moot for me, living in the land of smog nazis.

For the record, I dynoed 320 whp and 333 ft lbs of torque on the evo3 16g with the dejon sidemount. Obviously my info now reads a 60trim and a frontmount because that is what I now run....this thread was started over a year ago.

those are some good numbers. was that on pump or race gas? how many psi?.

That's the FMICI tried to run withmy 50 trimbut in Dave's defense he sid it might be marginal. I thik it wuld be OK for a big 16G as I ran an EVo on the stock sidemount. i now run a Spearco small FMIC. Mark
dsmtrader has them for sale quite often. ark

I am also in the market for a spearco intercooler. where did you purchase your spearco?

rre griffin spearco core only is $475. If I can get a used one for $300 I will buy it and it will bolt right up to the dejon pipes.

BE CAREFUL!!! Griffin and Spearco ae 2 different cores. The griffin is $475. The Spearco is $590. Check out the core flow on the following page and COUNT the coolng rows of each IC. The Spearco has many more cooling tubes. I got my Spearco 2-221 from one of the classifieds, dsmtrader I think for $400. with the short route upper pipe. The Speacro is only 16% larger than the dejon but it has 57% more cooling tube area. I used a Dejon lwer IC pipe. My boost went from the 13/14 I was trying to run with the dejon to 18-20 PSI with the Spearco WITHOUT changing the setting of the MBC. The Spearco flows freely, much more than the Dejon. Mark. It allowed me to place my air filter in the sidemount space for a true cold air intake which will help the turbo send out a cooler charge. mark

....................or just keep the sleep SMIC with a Supra sidemount look and build a cheap water injection setup. Its what I am doing because my AWD Talon is just my "work car" that I have fun with. If I blow it up (its happened before, I've had nothing but AWD DSM's as daily driver the last 4 years) I could care less since I always have other cars to drive. I don't wanna have to take the front half of the car apart , then hack it apart just to get an FMIC to fit. So what happens to that hacked bumper if I ever get into an accident (something to think about)??? So just run your Big 16 g at 15 psi everyday then ~20 psi at the track w/ your water injection coming into play @ 16 psi . Just something to think about. FMIC's are the way to go if your running much bigger than an 16G EVO, however alot of guys aren't. BTW since these cheap FMIC's came out you can get a Supra SMIC for around $100 shipped. plus $100 for a water injection..................

f you are running a turbo no larger than an EVO 16g then the dejon street FMIC will work fine and you donot have to remove the bumper to install it, I had one that I tried fr the 50 trimI had, way to small for the 50 trim, made for 16g's or find a used spearco on dsmtrader or the classifieds like I did. The spearco 2-221 is no the most efficient but flows 1080CFM at 1.5psi drop. It has gotten carsito the 10's and I emaile a guy who did that and he said it wa a good core. With my intake sittig where the stock sidemount was my turbo willbe compressing cool ambient air to start with so that is an advantage and the short IC outlet to TB pipe is another. mark
