I know some of you will laugh at me when i ask these things but i barely started researching "dsm" yesterday, that brings me to my first question.

What is the famous DSM?
What is FMIC
And why do the eclipses, evo's, galants, 3000gts have that bump on their hood?

just some questions i ask myself, thanks for any feedback

the "bump" was originally to clear the cam gears on the 1g talon and became a trademark on the 2gs though it really was not needed.

FMIC = Front mount Intercooler

The bumps on a 3k are probably there for the same reason as the 1g's

DSM is the name of the company that manufactured talons/lasers/eclipses.

DSM= Diamond Star Motors.

The hump in the hood is actually required for clearance on 2nd gens sporting a 4G63. Any GS or RS Eclipse doesnt require the hump. If you pop your hood and get on the drivers side of the engine, kneel down next to your wheel and look evenly across the engine, matching the top of the nearest fender to the top of the passengeer fender...the cam gears stick up higher than the fenders. Thus, hump is required for clearnce. Dont believe anyone that calls it the "turbo hump"

it's needed to clear the cam gear cover, not the gears themselves... it's way oversized for that purpose. it was to carry the eclipses distinctive hump hood over to the 2g.

so its "bullcrap" to get beat by experience... are you 17 or something, too?
When you come to a site called "DSM Tuners" that has tons of info all over it, including links to the very popular VFAQ that'll answer almost ANY question you have, and one of your first questions is What is DSM? Is it a club? Don't expect a nice response. It's a stupid question that can be answered by yourself in less than a minute if you open your eyes and use the search feature. Christ, do you still need someone to wipe your ass, too?
