so i got this car and im starting to find things that were skipped in the upgrade process that the previous owner said he did. so im tryin to check it all out so before i get there, what are some defining marks on a walbro 255 pump that i can see from just taking off the panel under the rear seat? or do i actually have to pull out the pump to know? thanks

No identifying marks visible except on the side - you'll have to pull it to find out for sure. However, you can duplicate the conditions the pump is spec'ed at (check out the Walbro site), disconnect a fitting somewhere, measure the flow for a known amount of time and then do the math to convert to liters per hour.

It would probably be easier to just pull the pump.

There are no distinguishing mark on a walboro pump. All you can do is attempt to match it up to the specs on the site to see if its the real deal or not.

well i have a afpr w/ gauge on its way, could i tell if its the 255 if its higher then 43 psi?

I'm pretty sure you won't be able to tell what kind it is from your AFPR, however, its not that hard to pull it out and check and then reinstall it. Walbro's have numbers on the side that distinguish them from each other. Shouldn't take you long and you don't actually have to pull the whole thing apart to get to it. If you can slide the black sleeve down far enough to read the numbers you can find out for sure.
Walbro 255 WAL GSS317 & 400-847
Walrbo 255 High pressure WAL GSS342 & 400-847
Walrbo 190 WAL GSS250 & 400-847
The last dsm I owned the guy claimed it had a 255 and I pulled it out and discovered i had a 190 so I listed the numbers for that as well.

thanks, i just thought that pulling it out involved jacking the car up to get the bolts off, all this stuff that make it sound like its a timely process. my question about the fuel pressure was just bascially since the 255 if obviously a more powerful pump, wouldnt it be putting out more pressure then the stock pump

Well you typically set the fuel pressure to be the same as stock, so you won't be able to tell by the pressure, although if you had the stock fpr then i suppose you would notice the difference as the fuel pressure would be shooting up way higher then stock. However, there isn't much to removing the pump. Make sure you depressurize the fuel system then pull off the cover under the seat (I believe thats where its at in a 2G) remove the fuel line (unbolt it and push it out of the way) and remove the nuts or bolts and pull the pump up and out. There should be a black cover over the pump, simply slide that down and look at the numbers on it, if they match up to the 255 then you've got yourself the 255. Only thing I can think of that you might find is that its not a walbro in which case I would write down whatever numbers are on it (and whatever brand) and look up what kind it is and what lph.
