Edmonton,
Alrighty, I FINALLY started doing some modding, and I'm just unsure of what I should do. I've already decided that a Cold Air Intake would be my first mod. Obviously I can buy *just* the CAI, but I can also get packages. Do any of you know of any good packages? Originally I was looking at K&N's FIPK, but then realized that it didn't give you a CAI. Any suggestions?

The only way you can have a CAI is if you have a FMIC and since you said this is your first mods I am going to say that you don't have one.

Wow... Is my face red, please let this thread be stricken from the record on account of my stupidity. :p

there is a tuneing guide on tuners here that helps soo freakin much.. but..

here is what i would suggest
dejon tools intake--http://www.dejontool.com/DSM%202gC%20Intake.htm

boost gauge and pod --http://www.gaugepods.com/gaugegear.html

those are the top two i would list.. then do the freemods. and eventully get a cat back or turbo back exh system.

Yeah, the tuning guide's been very helpful. I've decided to just follow that now, instead of trying it on my own; we all saw what happened when I did that, LOL. Feel free to laugh.

P.S. So, would the K&N's FIPK still be a good first mod?

It definitely would be a good first mod.. you'll be able to hear your intake, turbo, and BOV a little bit more too, that way you'll catch the modding bug in no time :thumb:

Conventional first mods are free mods, intake pipe and open element filter and boost gauge. However, i have found that the biggest gain comes from replacing the upper intercooler pipe because it necks down and works as a restrictor such as the ones used in wrc. I guarantee you will feel a big difference one u replace it. The cheapest once is the dave brode pipe for 75 shipped and you get a 1g bov for 50 or less. I suggest u do the intake pipe and filter and then the upper pipe. Leave the gauges for after that since u wont be changing the boost.

Good luck

I reccommend doing the boost guage first

You can see what you are doing now, and then after adding the pipe and bov and intake you will be able to quantify the change that you are feeling...

tuning is based on numbers not feeling... get into the habit NOW instead of after you grenade something. :shhh:
