is there anywhere i can find this for less then 175$ on dsmparts.com ... thats really just insane for a damn cable that i could probably make if i had the pinout. i know a couple people on the boards here make 1G cables does anyone know where to get a decent priced 2g one for a palm?

Isn't the $175 for the software as well? I got my pocketlogger cable and software for just about that price. You can find JUST the cable on dsmtrader, ebay, and the classifieds section.

I am in the same situation right now. I have the Palm VII and trying to find the cable for 2g. The thing with pocketlogger.com is that it comes with the software. But if you look you can download MMCD, and Tunerstien for free.

As for the differences I am not sure, but I am not going to pay $175 for my cable, and pay for software that I can download for free.

I was doing this search on the forums yesterday and found this site:
http://www.ghg.net/dharrison/

The cable for like $16

Also I saw a bunch of stuff for making your own cable, but then another thread said we couldn't with the OBDII(95+ DSM). Something to do with the internal circuits.

Then in that same thread(can't seem to find it today) it says that a couple people where using the OBDII cable from this site:
http://www.multiplex-engineering.com/cables.htm
And they are only like $20+

So I have the same question:

WHERE CAN 2G GUYS FIND A CABLE FOR LAPTOP OR PALM FOR CHEAP, AND WILL EITHER OF THESE SITES WORK?

By the way someone said that DSMPARTS had them for $69? They are $129 and back ordered for 6-8 weeks.

I don't mean to jack your thread but I really need an answer to the same question you have.

I need a cable to go to my Palm VII, I don't want to spend $100 plus for a cable that comes with software, I just want the cheapest cable, download MMCD, or Tunerstein, and log away.

Does anyone know if these cables work for 2gs?
http://www.ghg.net/dharrison/

or:
http://www.multiplex-engineering.com/cables.htm

I saw in another thread that it says you need the interface, does that take the place of the cable that way you only have to use the hotsync cable?
http://www.multiplex-engineering.com/products.htm
The T16-03 that costs $82

Can I run the:
Cable 7: Male OBD2 to Female DB9, 4 ft.
$22.50 each

Somebody please help, I need to datalog to see wtf is going on with my car!!

Somebody out there has to know something about 2g datalogging cables. A cheaper method than spending $175 for pocketloggers cable/software. Anyone? I really want to know if either of those sites I posted above are ok to use with palm.

i posted the exact same question on here awhile ago,

anyways, the cheapest way to go is the multiplex engineering interface, not cable. it's the t16-003 if my memory serves me correctly. you have to tell them you will be using it with Hal Landry's software (palmnstein) cost about $86

then you just get a serial cable to hook your palm up to the interface. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE AN ACTUAL PALM, NOT SONY CLIE OR ANYTHING ELSE. i found that one out the hard way, i've got an extra clie sitting around on my desk now. cost about $10

then you just need the software that you can download for free at:
http://students.db.erau.edu/~szabafab/stein/
make sure you take the guided tour. everything on the site is pretty easy. FREE

PS. if you guys know where to get the SNJRT30.EXE file please let me know. the 2 links on the site for it are broken and you can use the player for your desktop without it.
hope this helped you guys!

It's an OBD-II.
YOU NEED A BLACK BOX TO RUN IT.
YOU NEED A BLACK BOX TO RUN IT.
YOU NEED A BLACK BOX TO RUN IT.
Its not gonna get any cheaper than tunerstein with the blackbox...I suggest the multiplx box b/c I have peronally used it.

I have a PALM VII with OS 3.2

Just get the INTERFACE T16-003, not the cable, and then plug my hotsync cable in and I should be good then? Is tunerstein, palmstein the same? Is MMCD any different?

I just want to make sure that way I don't buy the $24 cable get it and find out that I need something else. Thanks for the help, I am going to order the interface today so I can get this car tuned and ready for dyno.

black box??? WTF is this an airplane? what black box are you talking about tallen?

69_luv, this is my setup,
-palm Vx (palm OS 3.5) with serial hotsync cable (cable goes from your palm to the interface which has a DB9 plug, there's another name for DB9 but i cant think of it)

-multiplex engineering t16-003 interface! they will have to build it for you, and you need to tell them you will be using it with Hal Landrys software (palmnstein)

tunerstein is just the desktop version of palmnstein i think, i am not completely sure on that. and MMCD is for 1G owners, doesnt work for us. hope all of this helps, any more questions just ask.

That was the perfect answer that I was looking for. I thought that I could use the MMCD for 2G, that is what Mike at FTS said.
PALMSTEIN will work for me though.

I am going to order the interface right now. Why do you have to specify just curious? Thanks for the help and I will get it on order.

I am hosting the file directly now! Try it.

i'm not really too sure why you have to specify what software you're using but they made me do it.

hey tallen, what do you mean specify the connector? if you're talking about the multiplex one it's T16-003. you said you were hosting the file? where at? tell me !!!!! thanks man! :thumb:

i'm not too sure if that's the ONLY way to run palmnstein, but for a 2G i'm sure that's pretty close to as cheap as it gets. it's the cheapest way i found. good luck! :thumb:

yes that is the interface you need,
i dont really know about that cable, you should email multiplex and just talk directly to them, that's what i did. they were VERY helpful and answered all of my questions pretty quickly. they would be able to answer you better than i could. so email them and let us know what happens. :thumb:

When I talked to multiplex they said you need the interface, just the cable won't work. Something to do with circuitry, and something else. That is still pretty cheap though, coming out with datalogging for 2g for $82($85.85 with shipping), plus the price of your palm.
