Edmonton,
Hey all, I'm looking around for dataloggers... I can't seem to find something that's sure to work with my 95... How can I be sure my car is OBDII compliant? Or what products WILL work with my 95?? Links would be appreciated, thanks.

I second pocketlogger, however go to your car right now and look in the driver side door jam. There you will find a white sticker that says dsm all over it in red and will tell you the build date of the car. Bring that date to your computer and post it here for us to see.

Thanks for the quick responses, here's what was on the sticker:

If pocketlogger works, does that mean that any OBDII software will work? Thanks again.

on that sticker there should have been a built date also. I dont think it matters anyway as all 95s, even built pre 95 were OBDII. What other logger are you looking at. The DSMloggers is freeware. I dont know what else you would use, besides dsmlink.

But yes, all OBDII software should work with your OBDII equipped car. There will be some exceptions of course.

I was looking at a datalogger combo I found on ebay but they were all sold and I'm waiting for new ones to come up... Thanks a lot for the information though :) I'll just pm you if I need any more help with this :thumb:

If i were you i would buy a used palm m100 or m105 off ebay and get pocketlogger software and cable. The ebay one, correct me if im wrong someone, doesnt have anyway to tell if you have knock which is the biggest reason most people buy loggers, so they can tune.

only 1G dsmlogger will log knock, unless you go DSMlink, which would be what I recommend. Then 2Gs can log knock as well. I had the ODB-II logger, WAY TOOO SLOW. with 11-12 samples a second, 4 paramters being logged, that a max of 3 samples each paramter a second. DSMlink stomps a mudhole in anything in my eyes. fast logging, great tuning (fuel and timing independant), additional features, and AWESOME tech/ customer support.

do youhave to have a laptop to use dsmlink, i looked into it but dont remember. I think i seen something for palm but not sure.
if you have a leit vertion of dsmlink you can d/l the palm app from the forums

yea but do you have to have a laptop, because i want to use the link but i gotta save up even more to get a laptop. Can i just use a palm and thats it? or is there someway to adjust stuff on a home computer and then transfer it to a palm and hook it up?

you don't NEED DSMlink.
Yes its aweosme, yes I want one too, but for $20 you can ebay an m100/m105 palm and for the $100 or whatever is costs for the pocketlogger cable/software you can log everythign but knock. Something that all 2g's have to face.
Also you can get very high smple rates with that combo, I was getting up to 40 samples/sec before my palm iiic bit the dust.

Alrighty, well this might sound stupid but: how does somebody tune without the ability to log knock? Lets assume you have an S-AFC and a pocketlogger... How does it do you any good without ability to log knock?

I just got OBDCOM for my 97 and couldn't get it to work. It would connect, but then immediately disconnect. The tech guy tried to help me for a couple days then gave up. I'll be sending it back shortly. I would probably pay a little more and go with something proven to work.
