Dash speaker conversion?? help

Ok so my car did not come stock with the dash speakers. and i happen to notice one of my eclipse junk cars had them so i pulled them out and popped the covers off mine and to my surprise the wiring was already there so they snapped right in but i have no sound coming out of them. so has anyone ever did this swap or no of a write up on this. i searched for a thread but all i got was how to remove the dash speakers. any help would be great.

most likely they didnt put those speakers in from the factory because they used a lower wattage headunit, worst case is your speakers are blown but they should still have some sort of sound coming out of them. maybe look up what the different stereo set ups were from the factory. . .hope i helped

Did you test to see if the wires are getting any power at all? The wires might not even be hooked up to the harness for the radio.

Are they Infinity speakers? They will have a gold Infinity sticker on the magnet. If so you need a base blocker to run them on a non-Infinity stereo or they will blow which maybe why they are not working. If they are the Mitsu ones they have a small base blocker built in.

Also are you running a stock head unit or after market? Was your car equiped with an Infinity sound system from the factory (my guess is no, since you did not have the speakers)?

If you have an after market unit I would just run new wires to the speakers.

I ran new wires to all my speakers the previous owner hacked up my infinity harnesses.

Edit: If you have an after market system are you running a amp for your highs?
