I want to put a seven bolt 4g63t in my car but I'm told even if I take care of the motor I will get crankwalk. This makes me iffy about doing this. I looked up doing the six bolt conversion, but that seems to be more expensive. Should I do the six bolt or seven bolt swap?

If you want to I say

1. plug the squirters.
2. get the CRCO main cap dowel kit
3. Mod the thrust bearing for oiling

4. Run a lower clamp load clutch like the SBR/Comp Clutch...
5. Measure endplay and use the spec fit oversize bearings

That should do it...

if you measure all of your clearences then crankwalk should never be a problem even on a 7 bolt. :thumb:

GET OVER IT...C/W DOES NOT HAPPEN THAT OFTEN. You just dont hear about the guys who never have it. Which is the majority. I bet even some of the people who say they have it, didnt. They probably misdiagnosed it. Go ahead and put in a seven bolt. Do those mods from up above if u want.

I broke a rod... no walky...

I would do modded 1g rods at minimum and preferably eagles.... Then do the oiling and cap location mods I first posted...

You have a 4G64 in there already right? Does the 4G63 head bolt right up to your block? Make a hybrid motor.

Even if you go with a full 6 bolt over a full 7 bolt swap, it wouldn't be that much more expensive.

121,000 here and only have to replace timing belt and slipping clutch. No CW for me. Yes it could happen but i don't think it's as commen as you have heard.

I'm leery to post, but 120,000 miles, new timing belt after taxes, and no crank walk.

160,000 Mi. Of brutality and no crankwalk. Since someone mentioned that people don't bring up the fact that they DON'T C/W well now I mentioned it.

108,000 it walked and the timing jumped as well ad but true im in the process of a 6 bolt swap now. my friends walked at 80,000 but its not as bad as everyone makes i have a lot of friends that own 7 bolts and no walk some times its just bad luck, as long as theres fresh oil it golden

All crankwalk talk aside! Seriously I do not see the reason to change the motor. You already have a bigger motor. Why not use the money and time to turbo it, if you want more power. As you probably know you can use the stock 4g63 parts for the job if you want to make it cheaper. At the end you are going to have the same power, but more more torque than the 4g63t guys.
Haven't you seen some guys are stroking their motors to 2.3L, and you want to go smaller!
Come on man!

I know that CW comes later on but 30k original miles here boys. Figured since everyone else is posting millage. So i'll be posting again in ten years when CW is a possibility.

Alot of people that say they have crankwalk don't actually know for sure. They just blame it on CW because it's the easiest thing to do.
I'm not familiar with the layout of a Spyder so I can't comment on whether or not the 4G63T swap is possible, so I'll say this instead.
4G63 transmission is on the passenger side. If your transmission is on the driver's side like the 420A's, you will not be doing a swap.
If it's on the driver's side, then I'm sure it's much more feasible than with your 420A brethern.

Yes, it does! If you do not like the SOHC(i do not know why) for some reason you can always do a DOHC swap from a 4g63. Here is how and what you need for the making of the BASTARD motor!

That would keep your hands full for a while!
