So i took my cylinder head down to my machinist,
and had him take a look at it and he said it's warped
8 thousandths... and said the exhaust valves were shot..
So now i'm stuck.. i was ready to put my car back together
but i guess now i'm needing a cylinder head rebuild/new head.
I'm stumped, help me out guys!!!

What exactly was wrong with the valves?
Did he show you the warping of the head, or are you taking his word on it? 0.008" is not a lot, you could probably get away with letting it go if the head has a good RA number mirror-esque surface on it already.

Did it look like the shop had plenty of work to do?

Well no they weren't busy,
i dropped my head off yesterday right before they closed..
And yeah i talked to him on the phone..
The machinist said the exhaust valves were sticking out.

.008 is a fair amount of warp.... most composit gaskets will only seal about .003 worth of warp, a MLS maybe half that. DO NOT let the machine shop surface your head on a BELT SURFACER/SANDER

did you jump time? or Blow the HG? whay did you pull the head?
if you blew the HG from over heating... have the head pressure tested for cracks....

some info for you to read....

http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/new...face-4g63t-cylinder-head-mls-head-gasket.html

also I would check the head for cam tower warp, if it is bad it can "grab" a cam and lock the enngine up and trash the head... bolt the cams back in the head with out the followers and they should spin by hand..

if your going to rebuild the head.. you may want to check the valve springs....
http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/newbie-forum/341287-how-test-valve-springs.html
and why I say that
http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/newbie-forum/341209-4g63t-valve-spring-info.html

and you may want to do this oil mod...
http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/newbie-forum/341028-4g63t-head-oil-port-mod.html

if the exhaust vales are just wore out ... the guides may be too.. so this would have to be done...

hope this helps

I blew a heater hose and overheated..
What do you recommend?
Rebuilding this current one,
Or getting a new head?

gettin paper... to me, Id rather build the one I have, that way I know what I stared with, and the history behind it.
before a dollar is spent, there is one check you can do to see if the head is going to be trouble free, .008 is not all that bad, but I would check for cam towere warp, if the cam towere warp is excessive it can cause issues( but that to can be fixed) just bolt the cams back in the head and see if they spin by hand, if they do.. your golden and go on with the build.

here is the local pricing in my area so you will have a general idea, and you can mix and mach what you want to have done.

Pressure test........ $40.00
Valve job..............$160.00
CBN Mill.................$40.00
R&R guides ..........$3.00 each
guide , part...........$3.00
Viton Hi Temp seal $25.00 a set
stock replacement valves about $10.00 each

BC1100 Valve springs appox $100.00
Engnbldr stainless steel Valves $140.00 (check ebay) I would go with the +1mm for the same price

the prices may vary in your part of the country, but this ought to be close enough to work with.

Delta, Thaks for the rep!! I deal with it every day, so I have it on the top of my head.
and Delta is right, before you approve any work done, you can go ask to see and have explained what will be done to your head.
also look at the equipment used in the shop? and how it is kept up.... you want it clean, but not too clean... a too clean shop means that they are not working.

The cam's are still i nthe head and spin freely.
So i'm going to go down to the machine shop tomorrow
and talk to him and see what can be done.
And then i'll post on here about what he says.
Thanks for your help bogus
