What's the deal with replacement CV shafts having no ABS?

Does the tone rig just swap over or am I looking for the wrong thing?

the remans i got from Autozone had the ring but I pulled the plug on mine... dont like abs anyways.

There are two axles available, for your car, abs and non abs. The abs one usually is the same number with another letter ie s, t, ect. Call your parts house and have them verify your number, if the one you bought is supposed to be an abs axle it may be a misbox, wich happens alot. If for some reason there isnt one available, the outter knuckle on the axle should be machined to accept your abs ring, just be really careful removing the ring. Try to use a 3 or4 jaw puller and pull evenly, reinstal carefully and evenly also. A little bit of heat on the ring may help also. Take a few measurements to verify the machined surface for the ring is the same between the axles, circumfrence and depth. Hope that helps.

The parts houses are telling me no ABS shafts exist in their system.

Found the shaft I need at Carquest. $80 vs $60 for the non ABS though... ouch.

Well the CarQuest shaft was non ABS as well. Guess I will have to pull the tone ring off the stock shaft.
