CV Boot clamp failed...

Fortunately I caught it before it threw out much grease. I actually heard the clamp let go and fly off the car while driving about a block away from my house. My question is can I just use some heavy duty zip ties to hold the boot on until I have time/money for the repair? I was thinking about using 2 of these 1/4 inch wide zip ties end-to-end since I couldn't find a really long one to go around the whole boot. The boot is in great shape, still looks brand new, no tears or anything. The one that lost the clamp is the inner boot on the drivers side. Looking at it, I have to wonder... how the hell am I going to get a set of CV Boot pliers in there to tighten it down after I get the new one...

the zip ties MIGHT work temporarily. Id get the correct clamp put back on as soon as possible though

Yeah, personally I'd try some large heater hose clamps or similar.

Same thing happened to mine once a while back. I tried using a zip tie, but it would only hold for like 20 miles. After going through several zip ties, I got one of the universal ones from Advanced, and its holding to date.

I got by with a heavy metal wire cored zip tie for a year on my car(cut clamp when pulling tranny for clutch job last june, in process of pulling tranny for rebuild now).
