Customizing dash, need some info.

I'm about to start work on my dashboard, dunno what I'm gonna do exactly, yet, but I really need to know is how much of the shape is in the foam under the vinyl. If alot of it is, then I have to rethink the whole thing..but if the shape is in the underlying plastic, then I think it'll be ok...

the vinyl/foam sheet that covers your dash is not very thick at all. the shape of the dash is still mostly there with it removed.

i thought that too, but when I look at it around the front speakers it looks to be like a 1/4 of an inch thick...so that's why I was wondering.

Most would consider ¼" as being "not very thick". WTF

The rubber and foam are no more then 1/4" thick on the dashboard and the actual dashboard under that stuff looks almost exactly like the cover.

I helped my friend fiberglass in some extra gauge pods and skin his dash in carbonfiber. It was a bit of a bi*** getting the CF mat to streach into some of the lower spots but in the end it looks good.
