The way mine will be installed to counter theft is securing the baseboard with heavy duty bolts to the frame, thereby preventing any movement of pulling the box out. Then, on top of the subwoofers, after they are screwed in, I will create ANOTHER subwoofer ring, 10" in diameter, overlapping the subs by 2 inches all around, covering the screw holes the subs anchor with. They will be raised aprox. 2 inches off the top of the subwoofer cone as well. Then that new subwoofer ring is what I will be fiber glassing.

This way makes the subs impossible to screw out and pull out, as well as hiding the brand of them as well. And they cannot pull the whole box out either due to the main securing bolts inside of the subwoofer box, inaccessible. The only downside to my evil plan is that this is now a completely permanent build. You cannot replace the subs, wiring, or really even the box, unless you take a sawzall to all of it.

That is my current plan... What do you guys think? Any other way to secure this to be totally theft proof?

Why not use security screws.....such as a torx or hex with a nipple in the center. The average thief doesn't usually have those on hand.

Yes you got the pull out secured. What about the fact when someone cant steal it they just cut the shit out of your subs. And burn out your amp.

That is some impressive design, it looks like you did your homework, i will for sure be waiting to see the final product.

One suggestion i do have is fiber the joints if you want it to last longer.

That wont stop them from bashing your window in to try. Having it all hidden will usually stop them from eventrying, unless they know you personally, or see you driving around with it blaring all of the time. It does look good though.

well i will be installing dark tint before the box is done. also, i am in an area that does not see a lot of vehicle vandalism and rarely is my car parked anywhere i would need to worry about such things.

also all joints will be fiberglassed. just had the fleece on to get the shape. will be cutting all the excess of then the whole base will be getting covered in fiberglass matt. recevied all my fiberglass in the mail the other day, so hopefully get the fiberglass down this weekend.

so got the excess fleece trimmed then applied the first layer of fiberglass. will let it set up and sand it, then will apply probably 3 more layers.

laying fleece is simple, just need any fleece fabric that you can get from Walmart, Micheals, AC Moore, and a staple gun. Start at the top, staple, strech over the sides, staple, trim. Lay down a layer of resin, let it get tacky and somewhat rigid(an hour depending on weather), start with a layer of FG. Let that dry overnight, lay on remaining layers of glass. Let that dry for 48hrs come back with a cutoff wheel an a sander. Once edges are trimed and high spots are knocked down fill low spots with mar-glass or other FG filler, sand, sand, and sand some more. Fill pill holes with Bondo, primer, paint, and your done.

^^ haha. was just about to write something this morning but ya, that basically covers it. this kind of work requires a ton of resin too. so far i've almost used a gallon of resin for what i have done. it makes it easier if you just slop on a bunch of resin and move it around, trying to "paint" with it doesn't work. i got my fleece from a fabric store (polyester fleece) but i would not get as thick of one next time. it was too fluffy and soaked up a ton of resin. I went online and found a fiberglass and plastics supplier and got 10 yards x 50in for only $40.00 for 1 Oz fiberglass matt. I recommend fiberglass matt over cloth for this kind of work. i used spray glue and sprayed the top ring. set the fleece on and stretched it. pneaumatic staple guns make it a lot easier, but i just used a regular staple gun.

youtube is your best friend for things like this. it's not that hard, but takes patience and time. get yourself a good mask and latex gloves too. Resin is pretty toxic stuff. plus the mask is necessary for when you are sanding the fiberglass and bondo.

Yep the polyester resin is some nasty stuff. I use epoxy resin for anything with Carbon Fiber as you can get it clear and UV resistant and you don't need a HAZMAT suit to work with it. As far as the fleece goess, your right on the fact that it soaks up a tone of resin and you have to watch for sagging under the weight. I've seen guys use white t-shirts.

The weight difference in CF to fiberglass i don't think is enough to justify the added expense. My 2 subs with the amp and cap are going to weigh almost the weight of the box. If you are going to weight saving, simple answer is don't put a big system in. My back panel is going to only weigh a few pounds once the wood is removed. the center amp rack weighs maybe 2lbs? The only real weight is my base, and I'd say its around 10-15lbs right now.

Unfortunately just as I was getting work done, I have to put the box on hold for a week. Finals at school, and absolutely no time, but as sonn as next weekend comes I'm going to be all over this thing. And it's warmer out, so I can work on it at my house outside and not my parents heated work shop. Should be soon. Def getting excited wanting it to be done. haha.

well one of the 2 sub sides got it's 3 coats of mat. unfortunately ran out of resin, so need to go buy more.
