one question.....why did u wrap the wooden frame in foil before you glassed the cloth? You want the resin to soak thru and adhere the cloth to the wood.

the foil is there because once i got a couple layers of fiberglass matt on it, the wooden skeleton is coming out. i want to make this thing as light as possible so ill be cutting the weight wherever i can. the back piece is only there blocking off the cab to the trunk and will be carpeted in trunk liner, so it is not needed to be strucural.

ill post some pics of mine later to show what I did for my box. And im interested how your going to cover the rear seats? I think im just gonna wrap some cardboard in cloth and contour it to the body.

well the cardboard u see in the last pic is a template of a deck that will be mdf. then there is going to be 3 boxes ontop of that. it will blend in nicely.

ok gotcha! I thought it was part of your sub enclosure.....my bad.

so spring is around the corner and winter time is slowing down a bit. so got some time to work on my setup again today. first time ive touched it in a few months and hopin to havin it done by the end of the month. wasn't happy with the shape that the cloth took to the back frame, so i scrapped the cloth and added more pieces in the get a better shape with the cloth.

the box in the middle is what the amp will be sitting on, which will be done in black trunk liner, than will be forming 2 sub enclosures on each side that will be done in fiberglass and painted.

think you'll feel the 4" port goin directly into your back? haha.

oh ya. subs are gonna be reverse mounted too. so no clearance issues. port is built to sub spec and box is very close to spec. cant get it exactly as it is gonna be oddly shaped.

well im a carpenter by trade. im paid to know how to work with wood. haha. mdf is my best friend.

so the back panel and middle amp rack are going to be in black trunk liner, then the 2 sides will be fiberglass, bondo'd, sanded and painted the 2010 mitsu eclipse copper colour.

that colour but a tint darker. going with that colour cause i plan on painting the car that colour.

Looking good. Cant wait to see the finished product.

so another weekend and another day to get some work done.

caulked every joint and got the fleece on and first coat of resin.....fleece was a lot fluffier than i would have liked...soaked up a ton of resin.

have 10 yards x 50" fiberglass mat being shipped to me, and will hopefully have the mat on next weekend.

Looks good man... I'll have to start up a work log when I start re-installing my thrown in system :)

I hope you have some dark tint, or you park in secure locations ALL the time, because youre just asking for your shit to get stolen.

The way mine will be installed to counter theft is securing the baseboard with heavy duty bolts to the frame, thereby preventing any movement of pulling the box out. Then, on top of the subwoofers, after they are screwed in, I will create ANOTHER subwoofer ring, 10" in diameter, overlapping the subs by 2 inches all around, covering the screw holes the subs anchor with. They will be raised aprox. 2 inches off the top of the subwoofer cone as well. Then that new subwoofer ring is what I will be fiber glassing.

This way makes the subs impossible to screw out and pull out, as well as hiding the brand of them as well. And they cannot pull the whole box out either due to the main securing bolts inside of the subwoofer box, inaccessible. The only downside to my evil plan is that this is now a completely permanent build. You cannot replace the subs, wiring, or really even the box, unless you take a sawzall to all of it.

That is my current plan... What do you guys think? Any other way to secure this to be totally theft proof?
