Alrighty then fellas, heres the deal. I curbed my rim.... .again. Its not twice on one rim but the second time on this set. Okay so its not really alll that bad, just some scratches that didnt go too deep and its only on the very edge where the tire meets the metal.

So heres the question; Is there any way i can fix it besides going to a repair shop?

P.S. if you say take it to a repair shop then you need to read again.... i am asking of ALTERNATIVES to repair shops.

I can't say that I've used this method yet, but it looks promising. I plan on trying it when I have time to mess with my rims.

He cant use that method as his rims have polished lips. You want to use a dremel and grind away the curp rash with the medium coarse wheel and then use the fine wheel. After it is smooth you want to use the polishing wheel to give it some shine. They sell a wheel that works really well to polish aluminum. It looks like a brown porous disk that is organic i think. You will know what i mean when you look at the dremel section at walmart. It is kinda pricey but it works.
This is how i remove curb marks from my wheels. Works well.

cool, thanks for all the help.

I know to stay off curbs, its just that i dont want my car that far in the street when parked and with the ever changing sizes of the cars i use, i tend to misjudge where the tires are.

I see this alot with people trying to ride on the smallest tires possible...if the rim sticks out further than the tire this will continue to happen. Not trying to be an ass but what good will fixing it do if it'll happen again in another couple months? Get a slightly wider tire with a rim protector edge and you shouldn't have anymore problems with that.

As far as getting out the current curb rash all you can really do at home is dremel it back down flush with the rest of the rim, hand sand it to even out what the dremel missed, polish and clearcoat it.You will still probably have little tiny pock marks in it but should be slightly less noticable.

It'll be hard to get it back to its original look without removing the tire, adding metal, then refinishing.

I'd make sure it was balanced when I was done.

well heres the thing, my tires do have a rim protector on it, its just that for some reason its not out far enough.

I got falken Azenis tires that were supposed to fit on my rim but it looks like they are a little too narrow.

The guy at tire store i went to said they'd be okay. Well needless to say, that shop sucks cuse not only did they sell me a tire that didnt fit right, but they also dented my door in the process of putting my rims on.

Give me your rims, buy a new set and hope you dont curb them again?

HaHaHaHa... LOL yeah.... you wish:thumb:

Anyone with performance/handling concerns does not size tires by how much they overlap the rim. A curb lip is a plus but gernerally the better handling characteristics can be had when the tire is on the narrower side of the spec.
