2G Cup holder

I was wondering if any one has custom made a cup holders in the 2nd gen. I am looking to do something for 2nd cup holder. I have a idea but I wanted to see if this has been done already. If u have a use or pics please share

I personally haven't. I do think it's ridiculous how we only have the one cup holder. I've heard of two ideas though. One is making use of the ashtray (or coin holder as some call it) into one. (Not sure how that works due to spacing.). Another was using the center console arm rest spot.

Someone did get crafty on a different car and made cup holders in the lower door pockets. The Mazda I drive has them but they only fit like can soda for instance. Nothing bigger that's for sure.

Now if you're talking making a holder or two for the rear seats, I'd go with using the the spot between the seats.

no pics of it, but i had a friend put the stereo in the glovebox and use the stock radio slot for storage. and pop out cup holder tray from a VW jetta. used abs plastic.

Both, 1gs and 2gs have a factory second cup holder in the arm rest, if you are fortunate enough to have the trim piece. I would just post an ad for one instead of trying to make a custom one.

Ya I still have that trim piece but i don't trust it to hold a drink, not a tight fit and the lid to the arm rest falls and knocks it over. I was looking to maybe fab something right behind the arm rest. I don't use the back seats for anything so I wouldn't have to worry about it getting hit. I have some ideas of what I can do. Just wanted to pick some brains and get ideas or see what has been done

I have seen on eBay a cup hold delete. Smooths out the whole center console

I have this one, it's an armrest delete and fits in the 2g armrest spot. As you can see, there's no armrest to fall and hit any cup. then at that point, and could fill it with something before you put a drink in there to try and make it more snug

HA! That is nothing more than the crap the RS and I believe some GS trim cars came with. It's the el cheapo snap in piece and is unbearably uncomfortable when you don't have a drink.

I haven't seen any mods but this seems to come up every few years. Honestly I hardly ever have a drink in my DSM but it's also not my daily.

It doesn't come with an armrest, it's simply an armrest delete basically. it snaps into the center console in place of the other one.

I don't find it too uncomfortable myself, but I can definitely see it being uncomfortable to some! I'm not sure what all models these came in, but I've seen no issues with them.

For the cheap-minded, grab a spare shoe, place it on the floor hump between the rear seat and arm rest.. quick cup holder when needed. Doubles as a shoe
