I'm going to try a set of these and was looking to see if anyone else had used them but search came up empty. Anyone tried a set recently? Thanks, Mark

Yeah I have a set currently I was running. My car is down this winter. I really enjoy them though, great top end, and remarkably has a decent idle with the Aem. I am actually planning on selling though due to downsizing the turbo. If your intrested Pm me any more questions.

If you not running a standalone, you should concider the stage 3's. the 4's are WAY too loapy for a stock computer.

Sorry, NOT TRUE! The stage 4's idle fine at the SAME rpm as my HKS 272's did, 950-1000rpm's. They are just fine off boost also driving just the same. When they hit their power range hang on. I drive an AWD and get TORQUE STEER!
I do have the mods for them with a Buschur stage 3 motor and a Holset HX-35/40 along with a JM SMIM which is what prompted the switch from the HKS 272's I had. You will need a good flowing IC also. Mine is a small Spearco but it's rated at 1080CFM. You can check out my mods. I may have to add the new things to them though. Anyone can PM me with questions. If considering cams the Crower stage 4's are the way to go if you want more than the average DSM would have. Mark
PS: I tune with the MAF-Translator. I have a Scanmaster(1G's only) I can tinker with the AFPR abd base timing but have been keeping the timing at the stock 5* and my base fuel pressure is about 42-44psi.

What are you gonna use to adjust timing up top besides just messing with the base ignition timing? Just tuning with a translator isn't gonna help you squeeze everything out of your setup, but you probably know that, was just wondering what other tuning devices you might use.

I know. I am stuck in the 11's with a 10 second car. I am first getting a laptop and trying TMO just to get comfortable with computers and then will go with DSMlink. Mark

I'm sorry but my experiance is not the same as yours. I've installed just a few sets of these, BTW I'm a CROWER WD, and I know a thing or two about camshaft grinding, and selection. Glad to hear that you are having great luck with them:rocks:

That is weird Precision what does Crower WD mean?
Wonder why the 415 ran like that but not in Sweets..course Sweet might like a lopy idle..not a big deal if they don't stall out.He does have custom chip in his car not just maft with raised idle I assume.

I am thinking of some now after his glowing emails to me.
I might still want to go 414s I like a real mellow idle.
I have a 2.4 which would think would further mellow them out.I also have 264/272 hks so really wondering if they are worth it but at least the one guy on here got some very good gains with them. And that was just the 414s on his stroker and his car has gone very fast..Forget his name now..lancerman think it was?
Anyone else running the 414 or 415 in a 2.4 like my car?

Mark maybe you could make a sound file of the idle somehow?
One mans good idle can be annoying or unacceptable to someone else. What is weird is you just have a 2.0 but you do have higher than normal idle.My 80 trans am has a wicked lopey cam but it can be tamed by raising idle up also but too high can get annoying in an auto.not a big deal in a manual car.

Who cares about idle, just as long as it doesn't stall out and pulls hard up top.

Some of us drive our cars on a daily basis...

AL WD=Wholesale Distributor. I took out HKS 272's for the 415's at Brian Crower's personal advice because I told him I wanted more thn the HKS 272's. My car IS a DD weather permitting. Nice paint precision!
Try a pair of these bad boys. Crower used to make regrinds and may have changed to some good CNC machining, I don't know. I do know these 415's make the HKS 272's seem like 264's. These 415's rock from the great idle on up to 8500. Mark

All of Crower's cams are all made from billiet cors. They are not regrinds. One thing to consider is a set of adjustable cam gears. To get the best performance out of those babys you need to degree the cams.

Not true. I spoke to Brian Crower because a friend said he had a set of regrinds that were Crowers. We wanted to get the specs. Brian said they do make regrinds for the DSM's but only MILD grinds and they are not listed, you have to ask, $200./set. Brian said they are marked on the cam gear end with a number starting with the letter "E".
Certainly any cam is best when degreed but with todays CNC machines it's not as difficult to make a good cam time after time( or a bad time after time!:>). Also David Buschur will only use HKS and Crower cams and he does not degree them, I asked. Mark
PS: Precision is correct in that the standard Crower line up cams are made from NEW billet cores. The fact that David Buschur uses them should tell you something of their ability and the fact that he does not degree HKS nor Crowers also lets you know of the quality of the Crowers. I believe there is more power to be made with the crowers and it is a matter of time that they become a more common mod for the DSM crowd, especially the guys who are willing to NOT follow the beaten path. I also use a Holset turbo, not a popular turbo with these cars but still very capable and powerful, just different. Mark

You are correct on the regrinds and the new cams you can purchase from crower. I just didn't feel the need to mention the fact that crower will regrind a mild cam set up for cutsomers. +1 for sweet for being informed.

Well I got stage 3s for my 2.4 ,should have maybe went to stage 4 or custom or 5s but I think the stage 3 will be fine.
