Hey guys i am new to this site, and i am also pretty new to the dsm scene. Well anyway this is what happened, it was really late at night and i tried to start my car. I didnt start so i assumed that it was a dead battery because car had been sitting for 2 and a half days. So i went to get my neighbor to get a jumpstart from him. To cut the story short, he placed his ends of the cables in the right way and my dumb..ss did not do the same i saw a spark on one of the terminals but i ignored it. I went to try to start the car and noticed it didnt do anything. i tried cranking it two times but nothing. So finally my friend says... I think you have your ends wrong because my side of the jumper cables is getting really hot. So i get out of my car and switch the cables, try to start the car and the car doesnt start. After 3 tries it starts but there is a really strong burnt smell coming from the alternator area. There is also some kind of smoke coming out that same area. The radio is not working(aftermarket with subwoofer and amp) the climate controls are not working either. So i tought it was just the dead battery but about two minutes after we unhook the battery jumper cables the car dies. The next day i go to the junkyard and get a 120 a fusible link and also a whole bunch of fuses and also a black connector that had meltedthat goes to the starter. I replace those parts and also replace the fusible link. I also replace the big fuse for the aftermarket radio. So now the alternator works and everything else except the heater and ac control as well as the defrost button. Please help me decipher this mess that i have brought on myself for being so careless. I do not have a job currently and cannot afford to pay for any mechanics to fix my car. Thank you everybody.

Sounds like you blew a few more fuses. Did you check all the fuses under the hood and inside the car. You might have fried a couple relays too the ones under the hood. I believe there are two separate relays for a/c and heater so I would check those out. Try swapping them with ones you now work Sorry to here of the misfortune. When I first got my gst one of the peddles made some nose so I sprayed some wd40 on it. Well that was a dumb idea some of the wd got on the fuse box which I wasn't aware of. Let's just say that didn't work out melted everything LOL, but I swapped a new fuse box in changed a few major fuses problem solved. Lesson learned the hard way that for sure LOL.

Hey man how are you thanks for your help however i have visually checked those under the hood and also checked(just visual check) the ones inside the car under the dash. Everything looks good and also tried the swaping with relays that i know are good. Still nothing, any more ideas? is there other relays that i do not know about? perhaps? other than the ones under the hood and the ones inside the car? Please any info is helpful like i said before the defrost button doesn't work and also the knobs do not work (the ones for the ac and heater.) thank you bro.

You might want to get a chilton manual and check out the wiring diagram. Try to find all wires for a/c heater stuff and chase them down. Also you may want to take the fuse checking a step further and use a volt meter to check resistance between both sides of the fuse. Other than that not to sure.

I bought a haynes manual and it is not being very helpful, i kinda noticed that the drawings and everything else looks better on a chiltons manual am i correct?

Also one more newbie question bro. Where can i post this question that maybe i can get more answers from more members? how can i do it here in the forum? thanks.

What more answers would u need he even gave u am example a situation he had which Probly result close to ## actions also. Your best bet would be check any wires and see if any has been fried. Check fuse box with test light checking that it still works, check fuses, check relays, maybe a ground? It could be anything it's hard trouble shooting when you have a problem such as yours. But I would do whAt I said and let us no ## results.

Sorry for grammar? I do not no what happen maybe iPhone acting up.
