If your that worried, you can never go wrong doing it this way: leave your motor stock, buy a used motor, rip it apart and rebuild it slowly, as you get the cash for go fast parts. even if it takes a year or two, the satisfaction you will get from knowing YOU paid for and built everything on the motor will be awesome, especially when blowing the doors off of hondas.
I have had no car for ten months, and I have moved up from a 1.8l 4g37 with some mods, to a mildly built (hopefully low 13's or better) 2.0t because of it. Im putting the motor in tonight.

EDIT: since when will a loose, worn out motor handle hp better than a fresh, properly built tight motor? not to start shit.

Just the same as a freshly built engine with looser clearances will handle more power than an engine build to stock specs. Metal expands when it heats up which causes more friction in a tight engine.
