creaking and klinking sound when i turn the wheel

i noticed this strange noise about a week or so ago and i can't figure out what it is. i'm pretty sure its suspension. it happens when i'm going slow and making either a right or left hand turn. it also happens when i'm still in drive but i'm on the brake and i turn the wheel left and right all the way. its a klink klink klink when i do that and at other times i hear creaking like when i'm going down my drive way. I've heard there was a recall on ball joints in 97 but my car is a 99 so that doesn't apply to me.

HELP, its gradually getting worse!

Check your CV joints. Check to see if the boot is ripped.

no, car is stock. other than the cv joints, what else could cause this problem??

It's probably just a bad bushing or something. Squirting oil on them might make the sound go away for awhile, but eventually they'll probably need replacing. The creaking isn't anything to worry about, I had a car that did that all the time and I knew it was a bad bushing, but I never bothered to replace it. Squirted oil on it once in awhile when I thought about it and didn't want passengers to ask stupid questions.

I had the creaking noise. It was the dust shield rubbing against the rotor. I just bent it back some and no more creak.

my shield was also rudding so i bent it back... but i still have the noise. thanks though

Are you saying you can do it with the car completely stopped? If so, you should try and get one of your brave friends to get as close to where the sound is coming from to try and pinpoint it.
