crap...clunk while in gear, jerks car back, cant drive it

Well my friend and I were on the way home tonight, we both took off in first, then there was a CLUNK and his car jerked back like he'd slammed on the breaks. It kept doing it, it did it no matter what gear he tried to start in as well. Its a 95 GST. Every time the CLUNK would happen it would litteraly halt the car instantly. However I had to push it to get it out of the road, and it did NOT make the noise while in neutral.

Anyone have any ideas?

Either that or your shaft bearings disintregrated.

Nope it was the spyder gears. I had 90/140 full sythetic in my tranny and all it took was dropping from 4th to 2nd and boom it came apart. It destroyed the casing around the final drive

Yup, mine did the same thing. Except my tranny casing was still intact.


saxrulez, you might want to look into a LSD and maybe some tranny work while you got it pulled.
