car jerks back and forth

here's the problem. whenever im in 1st - 4th gear, the car jerks back and forth when i lay off the gas. and also, when im in 4th gear and i lay off the gas, the stick keeps moving up n down. any help would be appreciated. thanks

Check the fluid, I had a similar problem last year, topping up the fluid fixed it.

what fluid would that be?

jack the rear of the car up crawl under there, grab the end of the driveshaft closest to the rear end and shake it, does it have excessive play.. if so you probably just found youre problem, theres a cheap effective solution on the vfaq on how to fix ur driveshaft using silicone caulking.

I'm not sure how agressively the car is jerking that he is talking about. But My car would do it in first and second when I let off the gas, it also made a vibrating noise. I don't know how much was left but I was able to put close to a litre of fluid in the transmission before it started coming out the filler hole.
