So I believe my car is crankwalking. Not exactly sure I have looked at the symptoms

There are no metal shavings in my oil
Clutch depressed and lifts fine
Engine runs fine until oil gauge reads low

Not sure if its a spun rod bearing or anything..

Car was fine till some show boating  this smiley face should get punched in the face
Cause its not cool when your engine sounds weird..

Getting a ticking sounds
Like two empty soda cans getting drumed in by a pencil right next to eachother

Oil gauge reading empty

Drove home and was scared cause my neighborhood is the reallll hood
Just changed my oil and filter to recommended specs...

Ran it after and it runs and starts fine idles like normal and turns over but
That 2k rev even in nuetral makes that metallic sound..

I'll try and post a video but for my now my car is in my bed rest mode
No limping to work and no wheel chairing

Sittinf in my driveway and on craigslist for now at 3k
Eclipse 95 gsx :-(

the point of this thread? wheres your question? and it sounds more like you're on your way to spinning a bearing BTW. so stop driving/turning it on..GL with the sale.

Crankwalked? Sounds like a rod bearing. Before you jumped to the crankwalked conclusion did you even look up the deffinition of the term? Excessive crank endplay is an issue with the thrust bearing so Id check end play.

So with out looking into the symptoms you deduced your problem to crank walk?

You more than likely spun a bearing. A spun bearing ≠ crank walk. It's people like you that blew an small issue way out of proportion.

Now go sell the car, and tell everyone how unreliable dsms are.

Honestly personally the way the sound is and the clutch pedal also causes the sound I could only think that maybe the engine (7 bolt couldnt handle the abuse). And a spun bearing, what can I do about this? Do I have to take apart the engine and reinstall everything again?

I really do wanna keep my car, just wanted to see who would jump on it on craigslist. I'm currently taking it down now and getting ready to send it into a shop around here in FL. Automodz to be exact. If anyone knows anything about this shop that they didnt like please tell me now.

Getting ready to do a 6 bolt swap and not sure if the money i'll spend now getting an OEM replacement that can hold the 400-500hp goals that I have in the future are worth it.

Going to do some research on spun bearings. I'd appreciate the non flamings cause honestly with the money that I was gonna get if my car sold I was gonna buy a 1g AWD gsx.

Thought this was a nice community? The last thing I would do is ever give up on dsm. Mines just old and kinda beat up on and neglected. Props to anyone who went to this post and actually posted useful information especially about the spun bearing.

Research time.

I don't think you're going to get 3k for a 2g with a blown motor. Not to many people willing to dole out that kind of cash for someone else's problems. Good luck though.

Your engine most likely ####ed. Stop running, you're only going to exasperate the problem. Pull the oil pan off, pull the rod caps, and inspect the damage. No need to take it to a shop to diagnose the problem.

Dont give up on it man. But like T said, stop running it and pull the caps. You may be lucky and not have scratched your crank. After that just plasti gauge and check for clearance and get the proper rod bearings. Make sure you use a torque wrench. Its a quick and easy job.

I know i really was just hoping for the members posting now to not give up

AND IM NOT GIVING UP!

yeah i've been looking through craigslist and dsm tuners and the only awd gsx for sale is a fully built one going for around 7k

the parts inside the car were where the value was..
Either way I will be putting my last few savings (~3k$) into the engine swap
sending it in to automodz to get my baby back to me, I'm not to worried about the money either
I have no time to do this myself and honestly I wish I had the knoweledge and tools to do it but damn
I was looking at built 6 bolts and the bottoms alone go for like 2k..
might as well have someone else do the work for 3-4k and get my baby back..
I miss it, these past few days wouldnt be so bad, Got kicked out of my gfs house for spending too much time on my car, my car broke down for showboating.. AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST THere's like 5 other people living at my house so I'm actually in limp mode too LOL. But honestly I feel better that I'll have my car back, the 2g model with the 6 bolt in it. I can't wait to be able to just not worry about crank walking and it be able to handle my goals.

Thank you to everyone who has posted, really I wish there was some know-how people around here and I'm sure they are but it feels like everyones more and more scarce until you work with dsmers. There's a guy with a white gst whos pushing around 350hp who saw my post and instantly messaged me at 2am saying "You're selling the car!!!?"

Needless to say, I like this gentlemen, more so his car so I will still and always will be here in the dsm scene to stay. Next on my list though is a drivers seat. Mine is broken and has been giving me a knot in my left back and making it a love hate relationship being in my gsx. Either way, have the 97 headlights and 2gb bumper chilling here. Can't wait to finally sand my car down put on my ricer accessories (just the 97 stock outlook) and continue to zip around town.

Honestly, thank you dsmgods and to not having my gf around.. My money really doesnt matter as long as I have my dsm! :) <3

p.s. btw sorry for posting about crank walk.. I really DID think my motor was walking, it didn't sound too good and the spun bearing fix with getting a new bottom end.. Eh, not too looking forward to not having my car back in time which needs to be soon and this Automodz owner seems to be able to dish out the cars in and out pretty quick. I'd say a moderate okay time for me is 1 week. Sure I wont be disappointed. Again thank you for the posts and viewing this thread. I really hope to one day meet more of you in real life and be able to help fix your cars to learn more about mine. 8D

That's happened to me before, but was a wrist pin failing on me though.. Sometimes it wouldn't make any noises until I let off the gas and it would knock on deceleration.. Are you sure its not detonation?

The 7 bolt can handle plenty of abuse...if maintained and cared for.

Please stop mentioning crank walk. Its 2013...if any 95-96 was going to CW, it would have most likely done so by now.

$3k for a blown DSM.
I paid $3k for my clean running GSX dude.

Got kicked out of my gfs house for spending too much time on my car, my car broke down for showboating.. AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST THere's like 5 other people living at my house so I'm actually in limp mode too LOL.

WTF are you talking about! ha

Good thing you deleted your craiglist add, before it ended up on the forums here on the "official funny stuff on craigslist thread: :p

Edit: and if you want to do some showboating, Fix the car yourself, save some cash and that will impress people more, than whatever showboating you were doing that got your car in its current state.

OP should know we love the craigslist thread LOL. But yeah I agree with the previous posts, 3K is a steep price and you'd be better off fixing yourself. Get a video of the sound and post it, maybe its an easier fix than a spun bearing.

Claims the car is crankwalked before checking crank thrust movement. Good one.

I'm going to go ahead and Graveyard this one- feel free to start another when you actually figure out what's wrong and have some questions you may need answered.
