Crankwalk... could this be a cause?

I was shopping for motors and I ended up talking to Kar King ( assholes wont give a warranty on short blocks) any way I happened to ask about crank walk and any solutions they like to use for the problem. Well they told me that if I disconnected my clutch engagement on the starter it would fix the crank walk issue. According to kar king removing the clutch engaement to start a 2g will release any pressure on the crank during startup. When the clutch is engaged it places pressure on the crank to start up and results in excessive wear eventually leading to crankwalk.

Well thats the jist of what they told me. Does that sound like a crock of shit, well it did to me. What do you think?

No its somewhat true. Crankwalk happens because the crankshaft bearing continues to have pressure put on it. Disengaging that part just allows you to start the car without having to push in the clutch. The less times you have to push in the clutch and put pressure on that bearing, the better.

yeah but you use the clutch only for 1 second to start the car so it has nothing to do with crankwalk.now if you ride the clutch at stop signs and lights or in traffic a lot that will have some effect.

better lubrication while the car is running then when its sitting still in your driveway on start up

First off nobody warenteys race motors or short blocks that they know will be used for racing and or not driven by an old woman.

Second anything that helps releave pressure from the thrust bearing will help reduce crankwalk. It may still happen but will take longer. Who knows what actually causes the extra wear on the thrust bearing on the 2G 7 bolt motors, but wearing out the thrust bearing = crankwalk.
