Sup peeps well I just got my crank pulley. Only thing is its the wrong one. The one they sent me looks nothing like my old pulley. Only thing is the one htey sent me is a two piece pulley. the guy (suppose friend) looked at it and he said the smaller pulley would work. Only thing is it is one piece, and the bolt holes are too small. He wants to drill out he holes to accept my old bolts. But I looked at it and it has no rubber(which I think balances the motor). Will this pulley work. :dsm: :laser: WTF

Let me upload some pics for you peeps....BRB I also noticed that the pulley is a lil bit small in circumfernce. Sorry pics are fuzzy.

That's a tough one to call even if I were there. If the bolt hole centers are the same distance apart and ONLY the hole diameter will be changed then you might be ok. However it also depends on how skilled the person is drilling the holes.

There is another couple of factors which must be considered. Will the position align with the plane that describes the belt path. If this is not in proper registry you won't be able to keep a belt on it. The other thing to consider is the belt groove the proper width.

From what I can see the pulley diameter is not too far off but this could present a problem in finding a belt of the right length.

The vulcanized rubber section acts like a dampner and smooths out the natural vibration of a inline 4 cylr engine. You may or may not even notice it but others have complained when switching to a rigid pulley.

I can't make the call for you, it's your decision, it's better than nothing but you could check with some of the local wrecking yards and maybe find something you like better.

Chill out, it takes time to formulate ideas and put to paper. Go back and delete that last post for the Mods will get unhappy with you.

Cheers,
GTM

I think gtm covered the important stuff.

I would like to add something though...

Make sure the timing mark on the outer edge is in the same place!!!!!

The 4g63 harmonic dampner has an extra hole that locates it on the crank timing gear.

If the relationship between that hole and the timing mark on the outer edge of the dampners are in two different locations it could get complicated for the next poor guy to work on the car...

Imagine the poor guy trying to set up the timing marks....:D

well the JB Weld worked. Well I drove it around it was doing fine. Till I noticed the temp gauge going up. I made it home only to find out that the top radiator inlet had busted off and was just haging there. So needless to say tomorrow I'll be buying a new radiator. I LOVE SPENDING MONEY on my car but my girl sees it other ways. So peace out peeps. :laser: :dsm: WTF

Put some of that JB weld on the radiator fitting and get out the hair dryer. You can use some fiberglass window screening which you can cut into 1/2"-1" wide strips or any shape you want to reinforce the JB Weld. I've done this with plastic radiators though a brass would have to get sanded with some coarse paper to get a better grip.

Did the the pulley track fine? I was a little concerned that just the slightest wobble would botch the job.

I'd just pick up a used radiator if your short on cash or if you have the cash, pick up a brand new one on eBay. I got mine for 79 bucks through "theRadiatorConnection". Cheapest and best radiator I have ever owned.

If possible, try and get something that doesn't have the plasitc end-tanks as, obviously, the metal holds up much better.
