So I ran into an issue trying to replace a Crank position sensor on a 96 420A... I took the 10mm bolt out, waggled the sensor, gave it a pull, and the head of the sensor snapped off. It left the bulk of the sensor stuck in the block. My current plan is to get in there with a drill, try to drill a starter hole, and hit it with a self-tapping screw and pull it out that way. Otherwise there will be a lot of engine pulling and general unhappiness. Anyone else experienced this before?

I haven't ran into this problem personally, but I don't know why you'd have to pull the whole engine... The worst case scenario is that you drop the oil pan and poke the rest of the sensor out. Try the drill/screw method, though -- it could work.

I had this happen to me! SOOOO not fun! Paul's advice is right on though drop the oil pan and puch it out. Also you will have a problem finding the exact sensor to plug into you existing harness. If you go to napa and order one (its like $100) it comes with an adapter Just splice and solder the new plug onto the harness and you are good to go!

This happened to me.... I took a wood screw and screwed it in the plastic that was remaining then pulled the screw out... almost as annoying as having to buy a 30 dollar harness just to plug it in...

Oh ok yea mine is a january made so mine didn't have the right plug and i wasn't sure when they changed them over. Thanks for that info though!!

Solved... drained the oil, dropped the oil pan, and popped that sucker out. Thanks to VelocitàPaola!:thumb: Also want to give a shout out to Kiriyama9000 - thanks for throwing the pics up in that crank position sensor thread!!! helped with the wiring.:rocks:
