Okay I bought a week ago a 90 tsi awd. The guy said the ECU was bad and it needed a new one . No crap because it had no ecu. Took one out of my friends 91 that had a bad timing belt just to get the car running no spark. Okay Power TR unit so I bought a new/used ecu on EBay with a Power TR unit and I got the parts today.

So I connect the Power TR unit and try turning it over Nothing.....

Okay Put in my new ecu and take out the 91 ecu and wolla Runs well sorta its has been sitting for a 1 1/2 years with the same gas in it.

Ran out to the part store and got some new plugs (yes i gapped em) Wires Sea Moss and went back home changed everything started it up and it ran better but nothing really well..

Looked at the throttle body and what do you know the hose the Upper IC pipe to the TB house had a small cut in it 1/2 inch long and there was no clamp holding it on.

Now my question is that when I wake up tomarrow changing that will make a differance? the car just didnt build rpms all that fast compared to my Laser rs turbo .

But boy ole boy when it was up to temp i nailed the gas and blew that hose that connect to new york it was so funny. I cant wait to get this thing running prrrrfectly i dont think im going to be able to sleep tonight.

Maybe and maybe not, your going to have to go through and make sure everythings on and you need the 90 ECU they changed them in 91. Everthing is different from the 90 DSM to the 91-94 dsm I have a CAS, alternator, TB, coil pack and power transisor all in good usable shape if you want them PM me.

I noticed that the ecu from the 91 wouldnt work in my 90.

The upper icpipe doesnt have a tear in it the the rubber tubing thats 3inches long that connects the uicp to the throttle body house has a tear in it.

Also the thing has like 1/16th of a tank in it. so im put half a bottle of sea moss treatment and let it idle until its out of gas and put in 93 octane with the rest of the sea moss tomarrow.

Either way a tear in a hose is bad . A 90 has to be a 90 . There may be a way to rearrange some wires to make a different year work but I am not sure . Someone will answer that for you .

Its that orange piece on crusintalons avatar thats right above the head in the picture i dont know what the heck its called.

If you choose , good luck . converting a 1990 to a 1991-1994 ecu system

trying to find one is pretty hard. I really dont want to spend 25$ on one but its an hks part so im going to look there.

Well i Cut the old hks piece in two then took a piece of exhaust then took the two pieces of the rubber hose and clamped to the 3' piece of exhaust and attached the tubing works great until i get the real hose in the mail. On a side note i noticed the timing was off alot and went to go a lossen the the cas bolt they were all ready lose and i just turned it while the car was running and wow what a difference. im so excited!!!

thanks for the link. I will get pics up on here tomarrow.

Those couplers dont have a bend in em. Mine has like 45 degree bend.
