Ok I might be over thinking this whole thing but I searched and couldnt find the answer I am looking. I have a 95tsi with a cop setup, now I am yanking that and putting a fully built 6 bolt in and a switching to a 98 ecu. My thoughts are is I should be able to just drop the cop setup back on and it will run correct. Am I right or way off.

It depends which CAS you use. So long as your not using a 95/96 CAS with the 98 ECU you will be fine.

Just so you are aware, the oem ignition system on these car is better than non CDI COP setups. People are putting down well over 600 horsepower on 20 year old oem coils. I belive some people have hit 800 on stock ignition. You'll have to dish out extra cash for a CDI box to exceed the stock ignition's capabilities.
