Hi, I have a newly built 420a turbo. Its got low comp pistons, rods, springs, valves, retainers, fmu, 50 trim turbo, fmic, 38mm wastegate, ssqv blow off valve, and 255 walboro. I have been starting to over heat so i changed the thermostat but that didn't fix anything. Box fans work. I took out the A/C. I think my water pump is gone but its brand new. It has been sitting in a garage for about a year on the engine but its still brand new! Any suggestions on what copuld be wrong. When i started the car and let it run with the radiator cap off the fluid wasn't moving. it was just still. If so can i change it with the engine in the car. If not this will be the third time I would take out this damn engine.:cry::cry::cry:

Always start from small to big things. Does the overheating problem happen only when you are idling or continues even if you are moving?? Are you running FULL STRENGTH OR 50/50 OR WATER? First thing is first, with removing the all air from the cooling system, Then move on to flushing out the system. Second, start the car and removing the radiator cap, in a matter of minutes the water pump should be pushing the coolant out of the system. If it does not then, you have pump problems. You said, that you had a rebuild, I assumed you would have everything replaced along with the timing components. Then the coolant passages should have been cleaned. If all the above as failed, then it is time to see the the damage is inside.

I am running 50/50 and it didnt start pushing the antifreeze. Im going to see if my radiator is clogged but all the timing was done and like i said the water pump is bran new. its just been sitting. i don't think just sitting would affect a water pump

How do you know its overheating? With it running, do the hoses get hot? If they do, pump and thermostat are good. Next would be the fans. Do they cycle on and off? Yes would mean maybe radiator blockage. No would be bad fan switch or fans.

Are the cooling fans blowing hot air or cold air...cold would indicate a blockage in the radiator.

The fans are working and it overheats while driving.

If you have overheating problems at speeds any of 15-30mph and of course, when you speed up it cools, then the temps drop some and rise up again when you come back to a stop. Then you have serious pump, blockage, issues that you need to fix and tear into ASAP!

If you think you have a blockage, you could dis-connect the radiator hoses and run a water hose through radiator and then the engine and see if any gunk comes out of either the engine or radiator.

I got it all flushed out but now my driver's side fan isn't turning on but my a/c fan is. I went to autozone to change the fuse and they don't even sell that type of fuse! Where can i get one? Also is there anything else that can cause the fan not to work? Thanks

I've had this problem with the fans, 1st thing you can do to check if its the fuse is to switch it with a/c fuse since you know that is a good fuse and they are the same and see if that works if it doesn't well then you know its bad 2nd thing you can try is to plug the main fan into the a/c power connection and turn the a/c switch one to see if the fan kicks on, if none of these work well then you got a bad fan or the harness is bad.

I'm guessing since the autozone didn't have the fuse u were talking about the relay check the fuses inside the car. If all good check the wires then if all checks out move to the single wire coming from the thermostat hosing that would be ## temp switch check the connection does it look coroded if it does clean the plug replace the temp switch its cheap. If still failed plug the obd2 scanner that reads data check the engine temperature if it overheats and data shows normal its ## temp sensor hope that helps somewhat
