Hi!

I am kind of concerned. It gets very hot here in hawaii and I am concerned about why my cooling fan turns on so late!! Is there a way to change the cooling fan thermo switch to a cooler one??? There is a lot of stop and go driving here in hawaii. Any opinions are greatly appreciated. also, What is the running temperature of a 4G63T??? Where is the Cooling fan thermo switch located???

Thanks!!

Mark

Is your car overheating or going past the middle mark? The fan fuses are on the firewall driver side in the engine bay on my 1g should be easy to find them on the 2g.

Fans are controlled by the ECU through 4 relays (each stock fan has 2 speeds) based on the 2 wire coolant temp sensor on the thermostat housing. Check to make sure the relays and fans are working for both speeds, then test the temp sensor. Temp sensor should be 2.1k-2.7k ohms at 68 degrees, 0.9k-1.3k ohms at 104 degrees, 260-360 ohms at 176 degrees (can remove and put in hot water with thermometer to test - drain some coolant out first to not spill out when you remove it). If everything ok you may have to do the fan on all the time mod.

Something else you can consider is installing an aftermarket adjustable thermostat to trigger when your fan turns on. I know FAL makes them. It has a copper probe which goes in your radiator hose. Control box gets mounted in engine bay and has a dial to allow you to control temp. at which fan is triggered. But you would have to splice into your factory wiring for this. Doesn't affect your AC fan.
Try fixing your stock setup first, but if unable then this would be an option.

run a toggle switch to the fans an you can control them or just wire them in to your accessory fuse holder or some fuse holder that turns on and off with the car.
