hey everyone,

ive tryed to i guess flush my coolent system out and i dont know what i did wrong. i heard u just take off the bottom radator hose and drain it out, and then some ppl put a hose through it for a while. i did that and then let it drain out and shut the car off. i connected the hose and then started to fill it with 50/50 mix. it only took like half a gallon and i dont think thats enough at all. i havent been drving it but i wanna know waht i did wrong. i ran it with the coolant cap off to "burp" the system and everything. my coolant temp light says im running wayyyyyyyyy too cold. help.

When the coolant lights come on, it's refering to the coolant bottle. The coolant bottle have a sensor that sense if the coolant is low.

All you had to do was just drain it using that knob on your radiator, and just fill it back up with water, and keep draining, refilling until nothing but clean clear water comes out, drain it completely of the water, and then refill with your mix, it indeed doesnt take that much at all, I believe mine barely took even a gallon, check your thermostat, it may be stuck open if your motor is running cold, or your coolant temp sensor may be bad, but my advice is first just replace your thermostat, and see what happens. Also, what do you mean by your coolant temp light says your running too cold?? That light means your coolant resivoir bottle is low, did you remember to refill that?? Try opening your radiator cap and squeezing the bottom hose, just to make sure theres no air bubbles too, but good luck.

hey the coolant bottle is full. and ya i never put that much coolant in after i had it drained. but the whole thing about the running cool mite be the thermostatee???

Yes. If there is no water up by the temp sensors, they may not be seeing that it's actually hot. Are you sure your thermostat is good? They don't cost that much and it's a good thing to replace every now and then.

The easiest way to drain/flush and refill is to run water through as mentioned above. Then get as much out as you can by undoing the hoses or whatever it takes. Using the manual's fluid level, fill half of that amount in coolant and then just top off with water. To burp you have to warm up the car a bit and keep adding fluid as the bubbles surface.
