coolant system problem

so i filled the car with anitfreeze but no matter how much i pour in, none goes into the overflow bottle. so theres no coolant to the "low" line let alone the "full" line on the bottle. i looked to see if i see puddles of coolant anywhere and i dont see any. when its full, it just overflows out od the hole you pour it in

You fill the radiator and the reservoir separately. Are you overheating, or smoking at all?

If so:
Replace radiator cap
Replace thermostat
Check all hoses for leaks
Make sure fan is turning on
If that doesn't work... compression test.

fan will come on at idle after awhile right?

Your fan will come on once your car reaches a certain temperature, i believe it comes on at 210.

Yes, it will come on at idle. Like playitlouddsm said it comes on at a certain temp, but I'm not for sure what temp that is.

ok thanks guys, so the coolant reservoir is filled seperately, does that mean that extra coolant is actually pulled FROM there not overflowed TO there?

ok so when i filled mine it bubbled for just a sec or two. i filled it til it started to come out the filling point and put the cap back on and started the car for a min, then took it off and filled more. it never went into the overflow bottle or whatever you wanna call it. so that doesnt mean anything right? since you said that it just vacuums some out as some coolant gets used up. i havent found any leaks or puddles or anything. so everything is cool right? thanks.

check for leaks!
