i have a 95 awd tsi talon. i have a coolant leak, and it only leaks under high revs, and it leaks FAST!, when it does. the weird part is, is that when the car is going up a hill or underload at around 3k rpms at about 70mph(cruise control) the temp still rises, even though i don't lose any coolant. when i drive without cruise it still gets to hot also, just used that as a good example. also, when i was driving quickly at high revs it smelled like burnt rubber, and it definitely wasn't the tires, so i figure it has to be a belt, or burning coolant smells like burning rubber.
its leaking on the timing belt side of the engine(drivers side). it could be the water pump, but high revs doesn't make sense, unless its pressure in the water pump, and maybe something with a belt slipping, i don't know. or the other obvious one is the head gasket, or the upper and lower intake gaskets, but those i don't think are in the correct place from where it is leaking. any other thoughts, ideas? easy ways to check?
