I was driving home from a dealing event last night and I stopped at the gas station. As I was pulling in my car tried to stall but I gave it some gas and it pulled right in. As I'm parking it, I notice my temp gauge start to shoot up and then smoke starts coming out from under my hood. I pop the hood and there's engine coolant all over the place, mainly all over the battery and intake manifold...and everything else in that area.

Any ideas on what could have happened or what I should do to fix it....where do I start. I'm getting it towed back to my house later today after work. It looked like something just exploded under the hood...I mean coolant was ALL over the place.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

If you're lucky one of your radiator hoses just split and spewed coolant all over the place. Look over everything and let us know.

Since it's back by the battery and intake manifold it may be one of the coolant hoses coming from the throttle body. Those get old and crack.

Thanks for your replies, and as I said earlier I'll check it out more once I get it to my house. I only had the light on my keychain last night to look at it, which was enough light to only see that I have myself one huge mess.

As far as all the coolant on the engine...I'm assuming I can just replace the hose (if that's what it is) and refill the coolant. Is a quality hosedown of the engine bay needed? For safe measures, that was my plan...should that work?

Should I try and find a hose myself and repair it or would the "family" mechanic suffice? Wondering about the costs on this one.

Thanks,

UPDATE: Turns out the heater hose had a hole in it. Had to cut a 5/8" hose to length from Autozone to get it working correctly. Everything runs fine now.

Thanks for the help.
